    Grum - Stay [Anjunabeats]

    10th September 2019 | https://Anjunabeats.lnk.to/GRS | ANJ572D
    From Above & Beyond's Anjunabeats Volume 14 CD1
and Grum's second artist album Deep State

Extended Mix Cut (Skip to 0:30):

    Grum’s ‘Deep State’ transmissions resume...
Conspiracy theories have been running wild around the disappearance of Graeme Shepherd a.k.a. Grum’s second (or is that third) artist L.P. ‘Deep State’. Announced late in 2018, the album vanished. While he cannot confirm nor deny some of the more colourful conjecture around the album’s withdrawal, Grum and Anjunabeats are pleased to announce that ‘Deep State’ is back, rewired and reinvigorated for 2019.

Reflecting the unsettling times we live in, ‘Deep State’ has moments of light and dark. It’s a showcase of Grum’s ability to craft pitch-black progressive and immersive vocal pop. The 10-track album is a refined take on the current state of progressive trance.

A throwback to the riff-heavy rave sounds of the 90s, the first broadcast from ‘Deep State’ is ‘Stay’. As heard on Above & Beyond’s Anjunabeats Volume 14 mix compilation, this saturnine warehouse cut was a popular set opener this summer. ‘Stay’ features a haunting vocal from British singer Nathalie Shay, who you can also hear on ‘Afterglow’.

Grum’s ‘Stay’ is available to download and stream now (https://Anjunabeats.lnk.to/GRSPr), with ‘Deep State’ finally available on November 8. ‘Deep State’ is available to pre-order now via the Anjuna Music Store and iTunes. (https://Anjunabeats.lnk.to/GDSPr)

Grum’s ‘Deep State Rewired’ tour begins with an album launch party on November 1 at Steelyard London, where he’s joined by Gabriel & Dresden and Genix. Featuring a variety of artists, the tour runs through February 2020. Full list of dates can be found here (http://anjunabeats.com/deepstate) with further worldwide dates to be announced soon.

All explained on Reddit - to do with the vocalist used in a couple of his tracks, which are no longer on the album.

There was an issue with the vocalist as said above. Turns out the vocalist is a homophobe piece of s*** (among other things IIRC) who has caused some issues where he lives, and apparently with Anjunabeats/Grum as well. At one point he started leaking Grum's tracks where he sang, not sure if this was some kind of revenge or what.

That said, his tracks were dropped from Deep State and it's now releasing again.

I got a around to listening. Not a bad album but only 2 tracks I really love and one of them is Stay, which is sweeeet. When the Trance synths come in at 5:30...damn...I fucking love it, they sound amazing. The whole album sounds really nicely produced with great richness and interesting sounds but I didnt really enjoy it musically that much. Maybe I need a few more listens. The male vocal tracks are not my thing at all, too cheesey for me.
