Well anyone who thinks like that before starting a track isnt a true artist imo......basing the length of your track on streaming and making money, what a sad state of affairs.

Btw,it can work the OTHER way aswell,as on Youtube if you have a track over 10 minutes, you can place more adverts on it haha.

Yeah with streams also. I bet suddenly intro’s and 3x chorus-ends would suddenly be populair again if they were paid per minute...

Money destroys art. And actually the whole world...

I mean, you're not wrong, but I am still going to think that some of the established tech trance guys can get lazy. I'm salty that John Askew basically ripped off Ambassador's The Fade and released 3-4 tracks with that same style (ex. Smack, Are Am Eye, The Witch) with that same sample pack.
I am also disappointed in Will Atkinson's direction after Numb the Pain. Apart from the Lies Cost Nothing remix, I haven't liked many of his tracks. I don't think they are very good.
Of course, I'm just a rando on the internet; none of them have to listen to me, and I don't expect any to listen to me. Will Atkinson can grow his musical style in whatever direction he pleases and do whatever he wants. His productions are just not music that I like.

I agree,he didnt really kick on after that. For me Giuseppe is the best producer by far atm.

I never thought of this but you are totally right. Just another addition to my list on how Spotify is destroying the music.

Percussion like this. Faster but really damn tight, clean and precise. And this is even coming from a "commercial" club trancer.

    Right away at the intro.

And ofc super clean simple but groovy basslines.

    Right away from the start.

Haha, yeah, I agree its funny but its also true though? Theres great things in more commercial music to draw inspiration from. And for the matter i mostly referred to the percussion and bassline in those songs...

I actually thought Ian van Dahl/Dee Dee made some pretty good trance melodies...i like his own remix of Dee Dee - Forever.

The vocals in The One are horrendous though.

Dude, On the Move and Castles in the Sky (Peter Luts mix) were the bomb.
But yeah, I agree that "The One" was pretty bad

But even the greatest Trance songwriters (Simmonds & Jones aka The Space Brothers) dont make anything decent anymore - they just play their old classic tracks in sets.

But as most "producers" these days are generic, melodies are generic, percussion is mediocre, hence using templates or just making tracks containing nothing in terms of musical content I would suggest focusing on writing good melodies and making interesting rhythms around it would be a good recipe. It worked in the past, and it will work now. Or maybe there is a sickness in the air.
