Kirsty in the shark infested waters

Sadly it's time for the next episode of 'Kirsty in the shark infested waters'. Today I would like to very much expose another rip off producers called 'Headstrong'. Again I have tried to resolve things and get my royalties behind closed doors but instead all I got was abuse. Not only has he not stuck to his side of the deal which was 30% royalty rate, he is also using Stine Grove as a credit on the song I sang so thats me singing and Stine getting the credit for it. (I very much doubt she is aware of this). But it's the kind of shitty thing he would do and it also reflects very badly on her. I have recently spoken to 3 other people who have had very alarming stories and have also not been paid by him. So my warning to any vocalists out there is to AVOID AT ALL COSTS this man is dangerous. I'm not scared anymore because I will not live in a fear based reality. I just want to voice my feelings as a warning to others that certain aspects of this music industry are beyond evil.

Wow... not cool. Props to Kirsty for naming and shaming.

Off-topic, not sure why the thread says 'Drama' in capital letters. I'm almost sure this isn't that dramatic, and besides, most of us are not here for the drama or gossip talk per-se.

Nothing new, unfortunately. Wish them nothing but the worst.

And that fear that she's talking about, what fear? It's not like it's the Mafia...

Hmm thought Headstrong was a pretty well known producer in the scene. I mean , he doesn't need to do this shit. Nobody has and should of course, but you know what I mean.

Looking at his most viewed tracks on Youtube, I would say he got famous by ripping off Kirsty/Stinegrove. Tears and the Aurosonic Progressive Mix go all the way back to 8-9 years ago, and a lot of uploads of these songs have hundreds of thousands of views. Some even reach 4 million.
I hadn't heard of this producer before, but it's interesting to think for how long Headstrong has been doing this.

Well views says nothing though. You can so easily 'buy' them. It's a useless stat.

Headstrong has been producing a long time now - i have his 'Close Your Eyes' release from 2005,which had Matt Darey,Adam White & Factoria remixes, with Tiff Lacey on the vocals. Long before all that Stine Grove stuff.

Id say the view numbers from 3rd party uploads on YT are pretty genuine. Its amazing how many millions of plays you can get on YT worldwide (coming from first hand experience.)

and that's how trance scene loses its most outstanding and authentic vocalists.. I guess I can make quite a list of rather unique sounding vocalists who alienated from trance scene in past decade or so and it's not just because the money and the hype it lacks, it's firstly how awful this industry treated them.

Looking from the opposite angle isn't any better - how many real good vocalists have joined the scene as of late? I can only think of HALIENE, she's incredible quality singer and sometimes I wonder why she's messing with trance at all, like she's too good for what it has to offer.

And I don't understand why so many Trance songs never give credit to the vocalist in the title.

I wouldn't say it happens too often but when it happens it's not necessarily the egoism and greed of the producers (still a frequent option though), sometimes it's agreed with the vocalist and he/she is still stated in the distribution system credits and gets his/her share, there also might be some legal restrictions at the vocalist's side or the simplest case - vocals might be taken from some sample pack so the producer doesn't even know whom to give credits for it, like it was with 2010 hit tune Right Back.

Kirsty has the perfect voice for 2009/2010 era liquid, dreamy drum & bass.
Face to Face has been heard more than 24 million times, as it's the intro to Mr. Suicidesheep's The Journey DnB mix.
