TO ALL THE RAVERS IN THE NATION:
I've been here for a long time, but honestly my activity ended in ~2013 when the situation on the trance stage went bad really fast (in my personal opinion you may think different, it's not time and place for discussion about it) - from creativity to factory production of ever the same 'melodies'. Trance had always its commercial side, but that time producers/DJ's crossed the border and became more celebrities and changed there passion into predictable, unvarying, cheap 'melodies' which I can't stand anymore. It hurts my ears.
I would like to thank people who created this place for changing my life somehow. In my teenage years I spent here hours daily. I met people, I found out interesting informations and what is the most important I was introduced to amazing music which is my only drug in this world.
Thank you for the content.
Thank you for the multipe feeling similar to opening the vinyl in 70's.
Thank you for learning me about music and selecting it, preventing me from listening to what "they" want me to hear - on YT, radio, tv and all these fancy music services.
Thank you for The best of the year classification and the guessing contests concerning this rank.
Thank you for letting me know about the great music events.
Thank you for "the currently listening thread" where always something inspiring could be discoverd - old or new.
Thank you for endless discussion about trance subgenres and if the trance is dead or not.
Thank you for jokes and funny offtop threads.
Thank you for letting me be a part of this.
I remember when Dash Berlin's Till the Sky Falls Down and Sunlounger's Lost became the song of the years. These were really popular and loud titles in here. Obvious types for the year's #1
I wish you all everything best in your life.
Matt

So sad, this was a wonderful forum. You can't find New Release section with such discussions elsewhere.
I, too, hoping this forum to stay alive. But if it's the final decision, then thank you Wesley for creating this place![]()
I will surely miss this warm blue/white interface.
So, for the worst case, where do you guys going? Another forum? Should we list the potential options?

Does it cost anything to keep it a 'read only' forum?
Trance.nu was like this for years but ive recently noticed even that has gone it looks like - a massive massive shame - i class these forums as part of the history of Trance.

I'm a bit late to the party due to personal reasons but I felt I needed to pitch in. I join most of you in your sentiments and I do not see why a permanent deletion of the forums has to be the only option. Like many others, I've spent years initially reading, and then also contributing whatever little knowledge I had with all of you and that's what makes this forum such a unique place. There's a common knowledge within this community that simply does not exist anywhere else on the internet and simply erasing everything is a hard pill to swallow.
We should also not forget all the producers that took the time to interact with us, and in some cases even take our feedback. More than anything, I believe most of us here have a deep passion for trance and want artists to give all their best, and if we can help them in some way, we're willing to provide assistance.
Lastly, for platforms alternatives. I know that Reddit has been discussed a couple of pages back and as a long-time running mod on r/trance, I agree that such a platform doesn't serve the same purpose as a forum. Discord is great for live events and interactions and Reddit is a good way of consuming daily content, but outside of big stories (Askew/JOOF rants, PVD's accident etc.) or key releases from a handful of artists (A&B, Atkinson, Armin) which are either driven by opposing opinions or fanboyism, you don't get a lot of musical discussion at a technical or historical level going. Sure, a small, close-knit community on a new sub can keep the group connected, but Reddit simply does not offer the functionalities of a forum and I feel the experience will suffer.
Having said that, I'd be more than willing to act as a Mod for a potential sub and of course pitch in financially to maintain the current forums, even if it's only in read mode.

You are absolutely right. The more I think about Reddit as a future part-time solution, the more I think It's not really a match. Having discussions on there can be difficult and there's no limit for posting new "discussions" which means most of it will get lost before even reaching an audience.

When trance was at its highest popularity forums where as well. Then the labels got greedy and blinded by money refusing to see how much forums actually spread their music. So they started cracking down on both forums and on top of that working hard on getting down downloadlinks, and getting music from youtube deleted and so on.
This is the beginning of the downward spiral for trance. Ofcourse many other reasons are factors here but its certainly one of them.

I have been in here since almost 15 years and its so disappointing to hear this. Got addicted to trance because of this forum and always loved to share new music here. Even in much busy days i somehow managed time to check trancefix. I don't think there is any other trance discussions & new /other release forum. Also as @S3baman said about the producers around here who interacts, discuss technically and listens to our opinion which is one great thing about the forum. And yes it will be shame if all things around here gets erased. I will and i know many other member around here will be happy to help financially if the forum is kept running. Also someone also in terms of technical help.
Still if its final , thanks a lot Wesley for creating and running this wonderful forum for such a long time. Thanks to all members for sharing great music and other contents here !!

I mean, the labels have every right to request the removal of download links. Also, forums across the board died because people shifted to social media.
Trance has been on a downward spiral for a long time. What we're seeing right now is the last straw, the writing on the wall of the legacy left behind from the mid-2000s.

i probably wouldnt be where iam now without forums - i remember my collab with Richard Gale got played by Aly & Fila,Schulz etc - and that came about from the Tranceaddict producers forum, meeting other producers on there.
People talk about Reddit etc as possible alternatives but they arnt in my eyes - discussions and topics get lost so easy. You cant just bring up an old topic on those platforms,so many features they miss that these forums have...people say times change but why do they have to change for the worse?!

Reddit will never be an alternative to a forum. Forums have organised subforums and discussion topics, it allows for organised structured discussion. Subreddits are like Facebook walls with waterfalls of "topics".

Wesley, I don't want to do this without your approval but would you be ok with archiving the forums (wget)?
Otherwise, please consider keeping a backup of the vBulletin database and possibly letting someone else continue the legacy on their own dime. There are enough people on these forums that are more than capable of running and maintaining vBulletin and being conscious of security vulnerabilities in the software stack running it.
