The bigger question is, will we continue this, just on another platform or not? Discord and Reddit seem like viable options, even if they aren't the same thing. Our WhatsApp group is just not suitable for anything other than banter, really.

Other thing - will the front page be shut down as well?

Again, thanks for keeping it alive, Wesley! This wouldn't have been possible without your 15 years of dedication.

Also, would be cool if the site went out on its 15th birthday.
r/trance is not adequate to continue the style of trance discussions from this forum. They're more concerned with posting tracks as opposed to having discussions

Maybe we could create an r/trancefix on there?

also, Reddit's trance sub is a joke.

"Most users ever online was 14,412, 07-16-2013" and now 150 active user. Was TranceFix that bigger in 2013?

I'm seeing trancefix hosted in hetzner, This datacenter have cloud servers with cheap prices:

CX21 could handle all the things the website need for 5$ a month, So the issue is not about the money imo.

Shocking news . It would be nice to at least hear a reason. The current message isn't cutting it.

This was not a decision that was made lightly, it saddens me deeply.

My motivation has been long gone, there is less and less activity, it is near to impossible to update the forum software, I'm very limited in time and last but not least there is a bill to pay at the end of each month.

Please refrain from comments like this when it's clear you have no idea what you're talking about, thank you.

Why cant you let someone else take over? I dont agree theres less activity - the forum is still busy imo.

    We try

I think part of the reason is how most people use Reddit. It's quick glances at the subreddit to see what's new or interesting. It's always a decrease going from active viewers to post upvotes to comments. Actually having discussion on the subreddit is rare unless it surrounds some polarizing post (e.g., an Askew rant). Trying to encourage discussion is always an uphill battle.

Honestly, a lot more discussion happens on the r/trance Discord compared to the subreddit (IMO anyway). But even Discord (let alone Reddit) is not a replacement for the functionality that a forum offers.

Sad to hear man, whatever comes first and foremost thank you for this site and you work on it

But would you be willing, (if someone capable and trustworthy where to step into the fold) , to hand over (or sell?) this project/ community?

be nice when you're a grandpa to go back and maybe its still there

I would say that Trancefix has also seen that decrease in active users, posts, and so on.
As for r/trance vs trancefix: I think it's just how those two media developed. But yeah, in a forum you can have an entire section for upcoming/past releases and another section for discussion, and you can't really have that in a single subreddit. The search function in subreddits in general feels clunkier than that in a forum imo.

This is extremely saddening to hear. If the issue is monetary I'm sure a lot of us could donate some, even if that means server downgrades or just closing off the main site but not the forum.

We're a smaller but close-knit community here with a passion - Trance music, classic and modern. There's a lot in this forum to be salvaged if all data is going to be destroyed too.

We may have had a decrease in active users but we're nowhere near dead I'd say. Reddit is a clusterfuck.

We should definitely create a Discord server or something to catch-up and continue discussing without the noise of the other larger and more vocal communities.
