The best trance was in 99-2003
Today there's almost no trance produced...

That thing they call "trance" is more like minimal melodic house.
And all so called "trance" of today is boring uses the same "boom boom boom - beep beep beep - weew weew" scheme. And it really is hard to tell one artist from another because all of that todays "trance" "stars" using the same software with the same presets. During 2006 I can only remember such outstanding trance tracks that have the feel of so called golden era. They're

4 strings - jewel (original mix) - a very powerful epic trance - the best work of 4 strings IMO
MIKE - Salvation (Plastic Boy remix) - MIKE still keeps the same style for what I like his tunes so much and have a respect for him.
Airbase - Sinister - Though looking at older works make me saying that Jeep relaxed a bit and didnt put much of an idea in this - this track still remains one of the best of this year
Peter Dafnous - Face The Change - 2002-2003 sound no less

there also were some nice tracks I might forgot , but "boom boom boom beep beep beep weew weew" is not trance!

Mostly I like trance, but there is also much bad trance.
I don't know exactly the defenition of trance but I can hear by the first beat if it's good or bad.

There is a ton of good and bad, just depends on what you like. I really like the new stuff coming out from certain producers, but also back in the day, oakey was in his prime, he's changed style drastically. But for your comment about you can hear by the first beat if its good or not....there has been many times i thought the same way, and then 2 weeks later i give the whole song a listen and it becomes one of my favs. Almost kind of like dont judge a book by its cover.

    Just my .02c.

i like the trance of today... but i find myself getting goosebumps much less frequently over todays tracks, vs. trance of say the 2003 era..

I can't say that todays trance sounds anything like mid 90's and up to 01, trance from that time was unique in my opinion.
Todays trance is so much more advanced than back in the days. In the old days (like some are saying) you could instantly hear who made a specific tune without seeing the name of the producer, i miss that in a way. Today it's very hard to tell who made what, when you hear a new tune. I really miss the feeling when you hear a new tune and you're like "Ohh sh****t i know this! oh my god this is awesome!" and it just blew your head, so uplifting, just pump up that volume.
I still get that feeling but not as much as I used to, but hey! a new year is coming up and i think 2007 will be a very good year for trance! so let's cross our fingers.

i totally disagree..... some track tracks made nowadays are simply amazing.... i think there are too many bedroom dj wannabes trying to release shit and it's diluting the scene..

Yeah I think that from year to year we've got new dj's who try to do something but it isn't always good but also the older dj are changig their style example like Tiesto his tunes aren't so good as they were earlier....
Trance is a natural drug that will heal us all...

totally agree... back in 1999 i LOVED tiesto.... now i cant stand him.... same with oakenfold... i think in the long run, talent survives.... thats true with all types of music... the fans (like all of us) will determine who gets the massive booking fees and who doesn't

I don't really think its 99 :\, base nowadays is way harder...well prolly cuz i been on hard trance a lot lately

1999 was awesome year for trance....Paul Oakenfolds sets make me crazy....such a perfect trance.

yeah....unless we talk about 4 Strings which really own card trance, but they have a lot more Vocal than in 99 imo.
