I am surprised Rotterdam would because I thought Netherlands are going for that whole green vibe look. I noticed a lot of office buildings and pretty much everything has become standardized as well.
It’s not that, if anything the “green vibe” is very popular with hipster folk living there.

but hipster folk = not clubbing folk. The former is interrested in expensive foodbars & festivals. Clubbing folk are, predominantly (former) working class interrested in…well… clubbing 🤷

Youth prefers to pay 400 euro for a festival weekend. But they don’t want to spend 50 euro for local parties each weekend…

I think it also has to do with fomo, the desire to be “there” and their online life. You ‘must’ be at Tomorrowland.

Plus, youth dances less anyway, as they can film each other anytime and they might send it to classmates or whatever. So that generation simply teaches themselves to not do anything that could possibly look silly.

hence > local clubs aren’t a popular thing anymore

it’s not a great time to be 18 now
