Kinda dropped the ball lately - stress at work, and sleep of less than sufficient quality and quantity have made a big impact, alongside other things. I find going to the gym the hardest - I'll always accept football or tennis (or hiking). But unfortunately, those are never on a regular basis.

I finally achieved an under 18 min 5k.
17:35 in a street race on Sunday.
Gosh, that took me ages!

Back in 2013 I set 18:20 in my third ever 5k run.

For 12 following years there has been no improvement, also I had a 6 years+ long hiatus from regular running within that time.

Then there was 18:26 set in 2024
and 18:13 set a week ago.

Yeap, it took me freaking 12 years!
It really was a big wall for me.

Now it already feels like 16 min is within reach.

What made the difference?
Consistent training, no matter what else the day had for me, I went out the door and executed the plan. I also listen better to the body and adapt, adjust on the fly to its needs.

Running has always been therapy for me,
so it is a big deal. It took me through the worst times, keeping me in shape and preparing me to endure after a lot of trauma.

Finally got into a bit of a rhythm with physical exercise - on Wednesday, I play 1h of 5v5/6v6 football. On Saturday and Sunday, I go to the gym. So in 8 weekend days a month, I do 6 days of whole-body strength training, and 2 days of just arms/back/chest or whatever I feel like.

Maybe a hike, or a long walk, or tennis somewhere in between, but overall I think I hit the sweet spot of not feeling overwhelmed by the schedule, and not becoming bored by it (never forget also muscle soreness) - and still doing it at a 100%.

I am a 125 kgs plus I am getting aches and pain on my back and legs like getting inflamed legs, my heart beat is now beat irregularly and differently then what it did before.

I am thinking of setting myself daily challenges of morning and evening walks and doing yoga as well but stress from work is annoying me but i cannot make a living off nothing.
