Hey Progrez, been reading your posts here mate. I’ve experienced a lot of what you do, I still experience it, but less. . Catching myself is the hardest thing but Im getting the knack. By catching myself, I mean, the tendency of looking outside of myself for the cause of the problem when often, it’s inside.
Trauma or any kind of horrible experience, when not dealt with has a habit of ticking in the back ground, with me, in the past it’s been utterly constant for long periods.
it’s real hard because, we can feel we have nailed it and…., . Wham, the problem comes up again. Self awareness can help. Grounding techniques. Being in the moment, but ultimately it’s ‘us’ who are responsible for what we make of situations, but if we have insecurities from trauma, it’s incredibly hard…. But there are therapy modalities that can help.
I think much of this is about, self acceptance, loving ourselves and doing some kind of inner work.
@Jetflag has suggested meditation. This can help if your willing to accept the mind is always gonna be thinking, just try not to attach to those thoughts too much.
a great theraputic approach I’ve recently found is IFS. Internal Family Systems. It’s about those parts of us that are wounded and still trying to do things like protect us, but often when they don’t need to as we’re unfortunately in fight or flight so often when we don’t need to be. We are just so used to it. IFS has become a very recognised modality which many therapists practice. It can also be done in self help from audio books. The founder is Dr Richard C Schwartz. Amazing guy.
