TranceFix Radio #018 - Merging Scenes - Mixed by Sunda

You know, it's not the size that matters, okay! It's what you do with that time and how effective you are (or so I've heard) - well, this mix is a true testament to that saying! Clocking in at just north of an hour, this mix, made by Sunda, is trance at its very finest! We have had a couple of amazing underground mixes lately, but now it's time to show you the other side of trance!

Spring is here, Summer is coming and so is ice-cream, sunscreen, flowers, birds and all that good stuff, but let's be honest: Who really cares about all of that? All we care about is delivering one slam dunk after another and as we're fast approaching episode 100, this eighteenth installment fits perfectly with our mindset of only giving you the best of what electronic music has got to offer.

From us, from Sunda, we give to you: Merging Scenes.

Tracklist:
01. Sunda - The Dragon
02. Jeff The Fool & Wilt - Gate Vibration [Thé Chaud]
03. Clint - Exosphere Main Mix [Slowciety]
04. Dean - Laika [Proxima]
05. Skyvol - Easteria [Easteria]
06. Aeryeen - Earendel [slash.label]
07. Introversion - Echoes [Materia]

Great episode overall, and great promo image too. Those pops of (I assume deliberate) inverted color really work.

Some notes:

Not entirely convinced about that melody (I think it's a sitar) in the breakdown for the first track. With this in mind, them acids bubbling away, especially at around 1:28:

The 2nd ID from later in the mix sounds more cohesive to me as a track. Among the highlights of the episode.
Also among the highlights, Laika and Exosphere. Into the pile of interesting tracks for the EOY top selection they go.

Last track is an interesting one to end on. Not necessarily my cup of tea, but don't hate it either.

Finally something shorter. Enjoyed the 2nd half especially, some pretty good tracks there.

That said, can't wait for the return to more conceptual mixes; we got something pretty good coming up next!

Nice show this one. Made for nice listening on the drive home. Checking back at the selection, it was Introversion - Echoes that stood out. That’s a class blend of techno and trance. Whorl and Earendel meaty numbers as well.

Lovely mix! Really interesting to see some modern-ish (though very high quality) trance blend so well with the best of the trance-forward underground content. I can imagine Sunda here filtering through the mountains of not-quite-trance underground content, like searching for a specific grain of sand in a desert. Alas he was successful b/c the sound and mix here are excellent. I really enjoyed the first ID especially , and the Clint track really stood out as well. It's funny though, when you juxtapose tracks like that against something like Earendel, it's so obvious how much 'more' a lot of the nutrance stuff could be if they just committed to being trance. Makes me want to pop in to Ableton and just start overlaying direct melodies in to some of the stuff from Ute, Slash, Space Trax, etc as edits. Maybe I will... Thanks again for this one, great stuff here.

Also pfssssssh to the long mix digs lol. Time and place for all lengths, as your mums have told you I am sure :)

Hahaha don't worry, we all enjoyed yours - I loved them. But sometimes it's nice to listen to a mix in one sitting and immerse fully, without having to take a piss/call/meeting in between. Ironically, I took at least 3 breaks here, in this short hour.

Sunda - Pillars, still a killer track I play today. Good to see him follow up with something nice again. Cool mix everyone.
