Depression and anxiety are real...bipolar is not...I believe in natural healing not this poison that big pharma peddles...Im grateful I escaped them and healed myself from within by diet and exercise and meditation alone...People really don't need that poison they try to feed people...gut/brain axis is where most of the answers are

Are you serious? I suffer from bipolar myself and have endured relapses half my life and it for sure is real. I admit a balanced diet and sleep helps a hell lot but pills aren't there for the sole purpose of harm.

YES I'm serious. This is VERY They tried to tell me I was bipolar. I went along with it. Took all the meds, side effects after side effects after side effects...oh lets pile on more meds...i did not feel like a human being...bipolar is misdiagnosed all the time for other things like PTSD. But every single psychiatrist and therapist was convinced I was bipolar. Anyways I stopped listening to them and against their advice I went off all medications at once. One year ago and now I feel like a human again. I just think people are made to believe they are bipolar and take awful meds with awful side effects when in reality it's something else

Note, you're pulling a non sequitor.

you not being bipolar and/or wrongly diagnosed/treated does not mean " therefor bipolar does not exist as a medical condition"

I’ve read the recent posts here for the last week or two.

My thoughts….

With mental based illnesses, it must be hard to always determine an accurate diagnosis.
There isn’t a sure way to examine the body & brain to determine a good idea of what’s going on. So they don’t . With a majority of physical illnesses … the body’s activity and state will indicate what the issue is and thus an illness is identified,… off-course this can also sometimes be misdiagnosed … but i think in the history of the world and all of the people who have had a physical disease or illness a huge majority of diagnoses would be correct compared to incorrect.

With mental illness I think it works more like the following:
….experts come to a conclusion based on a set of indicators determined from previous research. This can only be determined through the patient communicating their thoughts and feelings and frequency of them, and how often they change, plus how they behave. . Also I think so many of the parameters involved , cross over, making it hard sometimes to determine.

Ones mental state… is, physically invisible…..Yes, the brain has chemicals…but you can’t physically / tangibly see thoughts, feelings and moods.

And that’s where I think if there is one…a miss-diagnosis takes place with mental illness and that the expert is nothing more than someone trained in the field , thus having a more valued opinion, which may or may not be precisely right. Sometimes the answer is clearer… but not always.

I was diagnosed 22 years ago with mild schizophrenia and already had general anxiety and OCD. (Christ…. the meds I’ve been on over the years and their side effects) …... - but just 6 months ago in an assessment I was told that the schizophrenia had been a ‘misdiagnosis’, I’m actually Autistic with ADHD.
But… what’s clear… is that in 2003 when I was told I have schizophrenia I was very unwell and went on antipsychotic medication (they actually eventually put me on beyond the maximum usually allowed dosage and had to get special permission to do so) along side the anti depressants I was already on.

Thing is (and what helps me understand) is that…Nuro diversity… wasn’t known about then - like it is now.

My dad has bipolar disorder, and honestly, sometimes it feels like there are two completely different people living inside him. It’s not just mood swings—it’s deeper than that. One moment he’s full of energy, ideas, and confidence, and the next he’s withdrawn, quiet, and barely present. Don’t tell me it’s not real—I’ve seen it up close, and it’s one of the hardest things to witness in someone you love. I’ve been doing a lot of reading lately on Canada Pharmacy Partner about medications and treatment options for bipolar disorder. They have some helpful information that’s written in a way that’s easy to understand, which has been a huge help in trying to wrap my head around it all.

Honestly, I think mental health is just as important as physical health, so I think we need to pay more attention to it than we usually do.

The two are, imvho, intertwined. I’m more and more of the opinion that the whole mind-body dichotomy is greatly exaggerated.

1. Who are you spending time with?
2. Is this in my control?
3. What does your ideal day look like?
4. To be or to do?
5. If I am not for me, who is? If I am only for me, who am I?
6. What am I missing by choosing to worry or be afraid?
7. Are you doing your job?
8. What is the most important thing?
9. Who is this for?
10. Does this actually matter?
11. Will this be alive time or dead time?
12. Is this who I want to be?

Can relate to that feeling. There is, especially in NL, this urge both politically as in big companies to turn the whole thing into a predictable, sterile, non-adventurous, senior-home environment, which to some extent is understandable, but also utterly seed-killing,to use a Dutch expression, and just….inhuman.

I try to compensate for it professionally by doing stuff/undertaking things for my own company, and personally by doing risky action sports

Diet was the biggest influence on my mental health. When I went keto it was like a weight was lifted and anxiety reduced a lot. You need to try for a few months if you struggle mentally.

+1, And if full keto is too much for you, just skip "standard" bread and pasta. pretty much all the nutrients from what used to make wheat products great and "powerfood" back in the day.. have been bread (< lol, pun) out by grain species where quantity> quality.

now fair is fair...it did effectively stop a hunger pandemic it its tracks but whereas bread used to give you energy...now it just drains it.

(wholegrain/ desem etc. healthy breads which have popped up in the last decade orso being the exception here, in moderation)

I've been putting of saying this, but as someone who's had, like you, a traumatic experience, along with genetic factors and consequent depression/ axiety I think you might be approaching the problem in a wrong way m8..

All you seem to do is focus on coping strategies so you can be, (or feel) "comfortable" or comfortable again or Zen, or what have you..

- meditation
- resting in non-toxic environments
- hypnotherapy
- music

etc. .... even including the paletives/ drugs that your doctors seem to want to pump you full off.

non of these "retain-centre and calmness" strategies seem to work for you long run as the problem will, sooner or later, come back by sheer neccesity alone.

Might I suggest another approach? (mind you, i'm not a professional, but it worked for me)
What do you suggest then? Seeing a trauma specialist? I am fine being alone and being myself but not socially isolated (just like most people)

I am a vegetarian by the way I don't have the luxury of choice of going on a keto diet like you can because I can't see myself eating something that had eyes and brains before.

I have noticed that when my boss in in the same room with me I feel so uneasy and not confident anymore or he is able to get the upper hand over me and make me feel small and be an asshole that he has got the upper hand and my confidence tarnishes with his presence and words and pierce my heart and confidence. I can see why people take up smoking as a habit.

Instead of focussing to comfort yourself, focus on strengthing yourself.

Right now you are, from everything I’ve read from you. As vulnerable as a naked toddler.. everything mentally feels like an uncopable threat, and mechanisms like the aforementioned do not help with it. They just keep you in limbo/ temporarily eliviate. They do not grow you.

I don’t know if a Trauma specialist can help with that specifically… but any treatment on that front you do seek should imo focus on that.

do you know how they treat people with claustrophobia? First they let them be near an elevator.. then, when they can do that.. they let them in the elevator with an open door.. when they can do that.. 10 seconds with closed door.. then 30 secs.. then a whole minute etc. Etc.

incremental ladder steps up to strength/ resistance.

But the threat could be real though, there is a possibility of that as well.

What you are referring to is exposure therapy, I don't think long term wise it's healthy for me as well being exposed to that. I go for walks and have a regular routine exercise and meditation and now even do a mantra but in the corporate environment I can sense something is off even a colleague today told me she felt the same way as well when speaking to my boss.

Yes it could be, but when controlled your resilience should grow which is something that’ll benefit your entire life, not just your career.

my advice would as such be to seek controlled exposure therapy specifically aimed at your work problems.. maintaining your walk/meditation routines on the side is fine.
