How did I miss this? I wish the release date was in 2024 on this one, b/c this was probably one of the best releases of 2023 and I guess we all slept on it. Damn. A lot of us who follow this scene closely pine for more progression in the nutrance space, and I feel like this record is a huge step in the right direction. While this release has a firm footing in the trance space, it also reminds me of the uptempo prog house artists used to throw down in the early days, pitching up the records a full semitone. Regardless, it's hard to pick a favorite on the record. Each track brings the heat, with tons of little surprises and compelling progression. Dammit why is this landlocked in 2023? Ugh. Enjoy.

MARICAS003 is here as little end of the year gift from the lesbians to all of you <3 By the versatile, talented and trans(ce) up and coming artist French artist Desire

Expect some rave queer sounds coming from the next MARICAS Records exclusive “The Dancefloor is queer” EP. A 5 tracker banger including a remix by our one and only Aussie lezzie Roza Terenzi.

In her words:
""Dancefloor is queer' is an ep by a queer for queer dancefloors. Through the melancholy, euphoria, tension of progressive house, and the letting go of trance, I wanted to create a project that would convey what I feel with music when my queer body moves.
Being in my head, letting myself undulate to the rhythms, feeling the light of a club piercing me in the morning, the outside air as I leave the club, and seeing other queer bodies who are also escaping the outside world, that's what the club is for me. This EP is an ode to my first queer nights out"

Queer, Freshair has a very nice break and end section. Don't Touch also likeable on firts pass but would like a few more listens. Roza's remix is the one that stands out from the bunch I believe.
