Not a big fan of mash-ups, what they usually prove is that alot of songs are just built in exactly the same way, but i do enjoy those which merge music from totally different styles:

One of the earliest mash-ups is still the best though:

Wow never heard that one before. I guess released somewhere in 1999-2003?

I know mashups got well known in 2001 but normally with pop song pairings. There did exist club mashups in the late 90's before then. Enjoyed quite a few in the day and some were the first mp3's spread at places like homeofmusic and other spots while they may have been white label vinyls initially.

Here's a few of my favs in the late 90's.....

Not as old, but a classic moment in 2002

These are the webpages (saved html's) from the first mashup sites that started actively sharing and kicking off the mashup scene in 2001-2002. Links will be dead but that bit of history is archived there. Zipped and hope anyone interested enjoys.

Not electronic music but we had a guy in my country that was fairly popular doing mashups.

Never cared for mashes tbch. I guess they can be cool for livesets but what the heck, just make good tracks from the beginning :p
