I was working on this album for 6 moths, initially I was gonna push it out 2 months ago, but decided to continue and listen and work on the songs while making new. (there is only one song that I am not happy with it, but I already had some feedback from a dj that plays my songs in events that is great, so I don't know)

I though it's going to be cool to explore all breakbeat styles. There is numerous influences like downtempo, progressive styles, uk garage, breaks, future bass and I sampled a lot of string instruments. If all goes to plan the album will be 20 songs and it should come about 2 months from now. I already had a label offer on one of the songs, but I think I prefer it in the album. Small chance I might get label offer for Another Chapter Ends (Begins), but I do't have my hopes high.

Decide to make the first and the last song the most experimental ones.

Still not sure about the first song which I ironically wrote last, there is some stuff I put of beat like one of guitar samples so still not sure how I feel about it:

The last song of the album is exceptional at least to me so I am going to try to push on label radar, but I don't have high hopes about it being signed:

Your tracks kind of remind me in some ways of Matt Langes work around 2010-14. Guitar rifs with breaky, sometimes glitchy patterns.

you don't find anything strange about these two parts of the same sentence?
The thing is I realised some time ago I have a strange taste. What I thought of excellent songs most people will say meh and what I think about some songs being just ok people will say one of your best. It's absolutely a matter of opinion, I value the songs where I had the most input and emotion put into the most. And I also struggle with even calling myself a good producer, mostly due to label radar and ongoing confidence issue. Just 2 years ago I remember being ripped apart for a song I shared here, I became much better, but i still don't feel good enough.

I will always be my biggest critique even if I my number one fan.

nice guitar parts, self played?
No, I wish. There is actually a very decent amount of great guitar samples on splice. In the last year I became lazier almost always using a sample to build my songs around. On a mountain top was one of the fewer exceptions where I build the song around my idea instead of a vocal or some sampled thing.

Those are amazing, but I thing ATB is huge influence for me. I still have a long way to go, but I want to do a mostly ambient/chill out album one day.

You have become a lot better since you first started sharing. Massively so actually! Keep going at it and you will keep improving. Everytime I look at my current design work I think its strong, and then 2 years pass and I look back and realized what I have now is a million times better from it. Will likely be the same for you. Good to be critical I think as its the motivation to continue pushing.

^ what hensmon said: you're very much going upward in terms of production quality.

Also: Armin's creative motto is a great one to apply when you, like me, tend to narcissus over your own work.

"don't get caught up in the bullshit of your own creativity!”

and Kill your Darlings.

This last track is real nice. Really good throughout. I cant think of any improvements. Nice job! One tip. I belong to a few chat groups & also discord groups. Ive read on there something said by Alexander, the owner/manager of immersed recordings and someone else ( involved with a similar but smaller label) that Label radar isnt a decent platform. Alexander said to actually get your tracks listened to, directly email the A & R man/woman. He said they rarely receive direct emails with tracks but are so much more likely to listen soon that way. Theres always labels that like tracks sent via theyre website also, if you cant find out who the A & R person is. This is also much better than label radar.

and Kill your Darlings.Iim glad im not the only one who gets a bit narcissus with their work. I have reduced it considerably though luckiky. I realised it doesnt hinder you terribly and reduces the ability to be objective about a track youve made. . So one aspect of that narcissus, even if i love some part of a song ive made, i am happy to let it go if it dont fit properly. ( when i oriduced between 1992 & 1998 i woukd never even consider doing that). At the end of the day Il just save that version with the oart that ive decided doesnt fit well and can always leave it for a remix. ( although that remix is something which i never ever get round to doing if im honest lol, although i did once just use a section i took out, and built a totally new song from it, which i orobably didnt finish tho lol)
Im glad im not the only one who gets narcissus. Ive stopped recently though as its very counter productive. Makes it imposible sometimes to be objective about your own music.

I would really need some feedback on this one. I want to push it and send it to some prog house/trance labels. One thing I am not sure is that am actually using a chord/pad sound for the bass which is a bit uncommon. I've done it in some songs previously, but it wasn't so obvious. I also love the vocals, but I am fully aware they are a bit strange and not everybody's cup of tea.

Worst case scenario I will include it in the album...

It is finally done, 25 songs + one slight variation (energy mix) of one of the songs.

Mate. This is incredible. I’m actually tearing up (almost crying). One of the most beautiful pieces of music I’ve heard for a while. Incredible.

After listening to the first minute and a half, I was thinking I would love to remix it. Listening further I just thought - No. It’s beauty is un-penetrable it would be pointless to try a remix 🫶

Thank you, that album turned a lot better than I expected. Any song you are interesting of remixing just ask and I will send you the stems.

Edit: Btw the vocal track is rock and there is another more metal sounding underneath, soundcloud recognition even suggested elecronic rock as tag. I was lol wtf :)
