I personally am glad I got rid of almost all of my social media apart from Soundcloud and Youtube, whatsapp and Signals.

Twitter I just use it to troll but even that I am in the process of deleting it soon. When I deleted facebook I had a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. I was constantly comparing my life to others, it made me feel depressed, angry, and paranoid and anxious. IG is just as bad too many hot girls on there and titok is even worse with even more hot girls.

I was scared of losing my life and scared I might die if I did get of my facebook. I found that I wasn't able to build deep and meaningful relationship and I just found out how toxic it became when most of the relationships or girls I went out only dated guys with looks and great bodies.

Have you guys noticed this? If so, would you get rid of social media like twitter and facebook because it's become a political storm where there are a lot of people with a lot highly political people whom I want to stay away from those people because they push their own agendas onto you.

I am in the process of getting a flip phone rather than a smart phone. On my Youtube I have installed a Youtube recommendation blocker so their algorithm doesn't recommend me anything in the feed it just stays blank just like how it was from the very beginning.

Facebook has alienated fans and djs and producers and left everyone even more confused. I blame it for closing down the following forums, di.fm, matthardwick, trance.nu, old Trancefix hehe, ASOT forum, Anjunabeats forum and JOOF forum.

I would be careful with the info that gets posted on whatsapp. Seen so much misinformation on there. Just because a post is trending and being shared on your whatsapp groups, that doesn't mean it is true.

Twitter comments are super toxic, so that's a good call.

Facebook makes sense when you're in college and events are scheduled there. As a mid-20s guy I haven't really seen many people my age use Facebook actively, so I just follow up on Messenger with friends from college that I no longer see in person. If you're in your 30s, though, you will see more people using Facebook actively, providing life status updates and shit, so you're probably better off without it.
Insta is whatever to me (I just use it to follow artists I like), and I don't even have a TikTok account. Don't really care for the platform as social media.

This problem runs deeper than just using social media.

It's been that way since ~2016. You might want to stay off Linkedin as well, or at least be aware that Linkedin also turned political (even though it is supposed to be "professional" social media)

Probably a smart idea, tbh

Facebook did a number on trance forums, yes, but trance fell off popularity so hard that maybe the owners thought maintaining the forums just wasn't worth it.

I highly doubt that it runs deeper. Take it from someone who used to be a heavy social media user and you name it I have done it and it got me hooked and made me feel guilty and had suicidal thoughts as a result of it. I am now facing body image issues as well. It's been like this since Facebook was introduced after it became big they knew it was toxic yet they added those addictive properties.

One thing I recently thought though: We all hate Facebook because they put money before safety. Fine.

But what about all the advertising companies? Everyone who pays Facebook is contributing to it. In my opinion its strange that a lot of companies attitude now is this:

"Let's see where this is going. We will wait for now. Facebook is a too powerful marketing tool for us.".

Wait, so they are saying Facebook is too important...... in other words...... they put money in front of safety. It's 100% the same.

I agree, its evil of them to see the reaction of how far they can take it before it goes too far where ethics are breached. They are just doing it so they can cover themselves legally and get away with these shady practices. Cigarettes should be banned yet they are still being sold and despite government increasing the cost and increasing the age. Young kids are still able to buy cigarettes and get away with it.

Oh, I've been there and on Quora (super, extremely addictive "Q&A" website that really is just social media).
This is a deep mental health problem, but IMO that is also a symptom of how shitty the world is in general to form meaningful friendships/relationships in real life. Once you get out of college, everyone is too busy to meet/hang out and get to know new people. You pretty much only have your group of friends from high school and college.
If you didn't get into a long-term relationship in high school/college, your chances of being married by the time you're 30 go down a lot, especially if you're not the kind of guy that does well on dating apps. The only exception is if you went back to school (for, say, a master's) and met someone there.

edit: grammar

I have never been in a relationship before because no one and I mean no one gave me a chance and I am already 33 years old so I am destined for a life alone.

Yeah, the sooner you accept that fact the better off you'll be

How so??? I don't want to alone forever, I do have my needs just like everyone else. Plus, I struggle with confidence and speaking as well and when I did try no one gave me a chance because I was either incorrectly perceived as someone who is too hard on himself or someone who has self esteem issues but that's not the case but you don't know what I have been through in my life . My previous workplace is to blame for that I was glued to a screen and I just feel I wasted my, 20's and 30's putting everyone else first rather than myself. I didn't chase nor do I sound desperate and I still don't have a partner and this is why I got rid of facebook after seeing so many people getting married and being in a relationship.

Takes the pressure off needing to find someone else
But, I disagree about the part that people want to end up being alone or worse lonely. Both are signs you will end up being miserable. Everyone wants a decent partner anyone who says otherwise either they are lying to cover up some trauma or something else.

incorrectly perceived someone who has self esteem issues

Well, these two sentences don't really match.

All fredjan is saying though, is that when you look hard, you will not find. And he's right. In the meantime, focus on you. If you are not happy with yourself, how can you expect someone else to be happy with you. So learn to be happy on your own. Self acceptence. Accept your history. It is what it is. You are not your past, you are whoever you want to be.

The more you repeat "I am destined to be alone", the more you will start to believe that. Your brain will put such thoughts in your mind automatically. And that way it will become a selffulfilling prophesy. So train yourself to spot those bad thoughts, and replace them with others. If you repeat you are awesome in your mind (actual speaking works even better) over and over, you will start to believe it sooner or later.

And if you grow into a new more confident happy you, woman will automatically be more attracted to you.

There are two threads for this: Alt Tech and How We Used To Live. Does this one bring anything other than the usual ramblings?

Hmm yes but actually no.
I would like to find a girlfriend/be in a relationship eventually. I am not in a position to currently do so. I haven't moved out of my parents' home. I have a job and work out in the evenings to improve my body, self-esteem, and confidence. I'm awkward, but still put myself out there and interact with people. I would like to know that I can form friendships with men and, most importantly, with women before jumping into a relationship. I'm also a bit boring and don't have hobbies that people would consider interesting (ex. making art, music, outdoorsy stuff, etc.)
If I find no one, and I am still single at 30 or 40 or whatever, that is fine by me. I'm not going to end up miserable just because I'm alone. I'd rather be single and looking than dating or marrying the wrong person.
