Federation: Liberalism
Cardassia: fascism
romulan star empire: aristocratic conservatism
dominion/klingons: monarchic feudalism
Borg: (succeeded) Communism
Ferengi: Libertarianism/anarcho kapitalism

etc.

From this eras perspective it would suck greatly. So yes it wouldn't be desirable.

I think future generations will just "evolve" with it. So they wouldn't know any better. Also they will look back at us and see us as a bunch of savages.
