According to Discogs, This was released in 1998 and "out of the blue" in 1998 too (Wikipedia says 1999). Which came first? Anybody have any info? Who ripped who, thoughts? Sorry if it has been posted before. Thx.

That's an interesting find.

Out Of The Blue was released 02.03.1999 in Netherlands but recorded somewhere in 1998.

My money's on Ferry Corsten to be the first one (as he was a genius full of creativity in the 90's), although I still want to make a proper research about this.

release dates aren't working as a solid proof, you can imagine a track getting signed to a label and not getting released in let's say a year while it gets played somewhere in a club or on the radio exclusively, getting ripped off and released ASAP

so I don't think there's a way to be sure, especially with something that happened in past century

yo that's wild how similar it is to OOTB, same heavy snare, same electro-esque bassline, chord progression, the syncopated saw riff, even the distorted riff during the build. i don't really mind which one came first they're both quality

Few more examples of "borrowing" Ferry's System F sound:

Project A - The Arrival [1999]

DJ Rene & Sahar - From Seven Till Haoman 17 [1999]

Floorplay - Oh Yeah! [1999]

Green Court - Moonflight [1999]

Some good research here. Here is Ferry's interview about the song I was listening yesterday. I guess he did indeed create this melody given his other talents like Exhale and Walhalla. BTW these rip-offs are also good quality stuff that'll never be produced again. Anything between 1998-2001 was quality trance.

Why was the video made private?

HALIENE - Reach Across The Sky (Ben Gold Remix)

Ronski Speed pres. Sun Decade - Follow You (Mike Shiver's Catching Sun Mix) [HD]

Why don't we post a rip off for House music too?

Very similar melody, might even be a rip-off, but I still love Antarctic Rain (especially Peter Dafnous Remix) and every other Thomas Datt production.

Thomas Datt pres. Two Roads - Antarctic Rain (Original Mix) [2005] (starting from 3:19)

Alice Deejay - Better Off Alone (Signum Remix) [1999] (starting from 2:48)

Interesting to hear. It sounds like a duplicate or a clone of out of the Blue with the same structure throughout the track. Like literally it's like note per note and beat per beat.

Call me crazy, but the Orkidea - Unity (Solarstone Pure Mix)'s lead melody is very similar to one of armin's old tracks from 76 which is called Wait For You (Song For The Ocean)
