I miss this sound. I hope Ozgur can recreate it with his collaboration with Perry O'Neil
I hope it will never return. Tat progressive style was played to death in 2004/2005 by Perry O Neil, Markus Schulz, Hammer & Bennett and so on...Ozgur himself repeated his style over and over again in every new single, remix or collabro.
Totally boring nowadays, all sound the same.

LMAO No, they don't get your ears checked. Now progressive sounds like, soulless organic house, tech house or slow boring electro stuff

It was an over done sound, but at least it had its own identity. I'd take this progressive style over what we have today in a heartbeat, side from maybe a few underground tracks that come out on bandcamp or some older Forescape records.

Irony was never a track that really stuck out to me if i'm honest. I like the spacey synths but the composition is a tad boring.

Could you drop some examples of modern progressive that isn’t boring? I’d be really interested to hear them

in my opinion, the decline of the genre was caused by the fact that these guys also started calling their music 'Progressive'. from that moment on, many UK and German djs backed away from the genre or stopped producing altogether.

'Dylan Forbes' is producing very solid stuff

Dylan Forbes - Padtheory [Body High] 2023

Dylan Forbes - Reverie [Body High] 2023

That style of music has been dead in the trance scene for 15 years now. But I still remember hundreds of them! Instead, genres like melodic techno or that stuff Anjunadeep is putting out now have become popular the kind of music where you couldn’t remember a single track even if you tried. But this track here stays with you forever it has a clear structure, a melody, and a recognizable style, rather than just being background noise for supermarkets.

I like the sound, it’s pretty good, but I wouldn’t say it’s better or more interesting than the track in the post. That said, it’s certainly miles ahead of the current Anjunadeep stuff. By the way, it’s not that hard to find this kind of sound on Bandcamp these days, but finding music like that of the producers mentioned (Perry O’Neil, Markus Schulz, Hammer & Bennett, and so on) is almost impossible, which is pretty sad

It was okay back in 2004/2005 because it was just a new substyle in prog trance, as you said. The golden years of prog house/trance from 1997-2001 were gone, even Bedrock or Hooj moved to other edm or strongly declined in quality (depends on how you rate it) from 2003 on. So the scene needed a new progressive chapter, programmed for the 2000s.
To be honest, the style which Özgür Can developed to its peak was already in the making since ~2002 and culminated in 2005. Afterwards, it died (luckily) because it went into pure boredom (thanks to Mr Markus Schulz at this point).
Who knows Özgür Can nowadays? Simply nobody. He was buried with this style.

Today, Progressive house is 'dead' in some way. Hardly find any good exceptions like above linked songs.

Okay, then its up to you: what is your modern fave prog track? Serious question so please no Anjunadeep stuff.
I’ve only added two tracks to my playlist this year, and I doubt any of them are worth mentioning. I stopped actively looking for new music ages ago. I just check out what people post here on the forum from time to time that’s about as far as my ‘search’ goes. It’s a waste of time anyway, since the music I want to hear just isn’t being made anymore, and trying to find something remotely similar is exhausting and almost always ends in disappointment. I could name a few progressive tracks for my 2025 Top 10 ( Rambal Cochet - Amnesia, Bönna - Sacred Soul (Pheonix Rebirth Mix), Aerium & Summa - Mind Beaches )
but the essence is that they don’t sound modern. I like them specifically because they don’t have that contemporary feel. So, I probably can’t suggest anything current, as I just don’t enjoy modern progressive house, melodic techno, or trance.
