So the story goes....

Last summer i split up with my ex of 8 years. (There was no romance,we were just kind of tolerating each other in the end). I was on the dating apps after for a short while - and i met this incredible girl. She was the same age, lived local and has an incredible knowledge of Trance, right back to the early 90's.

She didnt know that i was a Trance producer when we started talking but she mentioned she loved Trance and Lange was one of her favourite producers - i told her id net him recently and he's even played some of my tracks. The connections are so strong with her - i played her one of my Trance DJ sets, and she actually picked out one track from the whole set - it was my own track 'Back To The Stars' (which is still the best track i ever made) She said it something to her and i got goosebumps when she told me.

Incredibly,we even share our favourite track of all time - Out Of The Blue.

She had collected the old Trance compilation CDs just like me in the late 90's.

We spend most Saturday nights just having a rave in my studio, listening to Trance and drinking beers. I just thought id post this thread because its so rare to find a connection like this, not only in this specific form of music, but many other connections we have and values we believe in.

We have even talked about which Trance tracks we would have at our wedding haha!

Anyway,id just thought id share this incredible love story with you....

Holy moly, that escalated quickly! 😄 Great to see you bounce back up strongly after the breakup.

I don't believe it's easy, especially as you get more mature, to find a perfect match based on the most important values and interests. So it's always great when everything clicks.

nice one mate major luck meeting this lady, don't blow it :)

I also had a gf that was big times into trance music at the time we met and started dating, it was great attending some festivals and club events together and just chatting about it all. unfortunately, later on, years after we broke up but stayed friends her passion for trance somehow slowly faded away, she's started to listen to pretty much everything which is weird, I thought it doesn't work that way and after your taste has been narrowed to a certain style you can't just start to listen to anything like you're 15 and you haven't figured out your favorite kind of music. I guess maybe she didn't embrace the changes in trance music throughout the 2010s, she's often been saying it's not as good as it used to be.

I actually had this happen, where I listened to trance almost exclusively from 15 to 18 years old, then at 18 started getting into (American) pop music. A few years later, at 23, I found kpop, which I still listen to today at 27.

Happy for you. But don't you think you are moving too fast? 8 years together and you broke up last summer and already moving onto another girl. Just don't shower her with gifts because that's considered 'love bombing'.

I personally have given up looking mainly because I attract who use me as a rebound which I want avoid. I have never been in a relationship but just be careful you are not using her as a rebound or I attract toxic people mainly. From what I have observed relationships can turn from honeymoon period to absolute hell especially if they turn toxic and you find yourself in a classic he said and she said situations.

Where is @Bobby Summa in this topic?

seriously, isn't that too much of a concern/negativity about what is described as an amazing love story going on? I mean I feel bad for your experience but you don't have to apply it to the others so clearly. after all, whatever happens next if they're happy for the moment, let them be. Imagine you meeting a girl you fancy and you can discuss 90s trance with and thinking 'maybe I have to stay out of dating her just because of my past relationship'. to me that's the type of advice one can give to the others but would never follow himself.

Welcome to the forum, lol.

I see nothing wrong with what Mag's got going on. It's obvious when someone is a rebound: that would just be two people that are *only* sexually attracted to one another but have vastly different interests, life goals, and personalities. That doesn't seem to be the case here.

Also, it's not uncommon to spend years on a relationship that goes nowhere, only to break up and then find someone who suits you WAY better. Iirc there was a reddit thread of people just like that, who were broken up with and then their former significant others married the next person fairly quickly.

I am not being negative here that's why I said I am happy for him. I am not applying it to others either.

Sorry Mag - I don't mean to hijack this thread. Nightslapper if you want to discuss it further send me a PM.

I can see how that can happen - you can drift for years through a relationship and then realise there wasnt really a strong connection until you meet someone else.

good for you man. when you know you know. I remember when I first started dating my now wife in 2008, first time she came to my house I had some moderately obscure ayla/dj tandu track playing from upstairs and she knew what it was. 9 months later we moved into our first appartment without ever having a serious discussion about it, got married in 2016 and never felt the need to have a serious talk about that either, it just felt right. too soon, not too soon, it's all relative. we both like very different styles of dance music though nowadays, she's into more housey/edm type stuff and on the whole i'm not, some if it's good though. we had the album version of a&b good for me at our wedding because we both have a lot of happy memories of that one

anyway I say all of that to say just go for it and be happy. life's too short not to be

my girlfriend (2003 born) is much much younger then me, and there is absolutely no generation gap between us .. she also knows all early 90s rave anthems like 'First Rebirth', 'House Of House', 'Acid Phase' but also 'Hale Bopp' because her dad was a CD collector back in the days... so we can listen to all electronic music styles together .. and she also hates cringe facy tunes)
