Huh? You really prefer 1 and 3 over 2? The track Cheeky is by far the best on this EP for me, the melody progression is really good and it reminds me some of his older stuff, while track 3 is a bit monotonous, but still quite good and track 1 seems to have slightly cheesy lead. Track 2 is definitely most trancy out of this 3, maybe thats the reason why its not prefered here ? :D

This is the way 7/10
Cheeky 8/10
Ostend Beach 6/10

More info from Airwave himself:

R3tr0nauts is one of my latest projects, capturing the essence of the great era of nightlife in my home country. Inspired by the sounds of late 90’s Belgian clubbing, here’s This Is The Way. Played on ASOT recently. Hope you will like it and support on its release day next week. Release Link in comments!

Airwave goes clubtrance, isn't that weird, but that Luvstrucky one is pretty well build.

All 3 rather nice tracks and a bit surprising, not brilliant, but it's a long time ago that I heard a brilliant track from him, unfortunately.
Last one that impressed or surprised me was The Green Martian - A Last One For The Road

Was looking for the background of R3tr0nauts after hearing it on the latest ASOT and FSOE. The only source that answered my question was this forum, great to see there is still a tranceforum around, so I signed up immediately:) Defintely digging the Luvstruck-ish sound in it!

I kind of liked them! They are the definition of modern retro; old, simple songwriting with modern production. Very laidback, summery tunes. I think he can have some success with them, but for me they are too easygoing to judge them seriously (impossible to scrutinize against Venus of My Dreams). Good tracks though, I very much enjoy this (and a lot more than his recent stuff).

4/10 ifor yhe whole thing .ts this wonky type of oldschool with modern production imo.

Why does it always feel like when mainstream players say i go oldschhool they choose the most wonky/bad/crngey oldschool elements and make it around that. When i say oldschool i just think of better quality music but it always some one or two elements from the old but made with modern presets or whatever

And also if a artist name has numbers instead of a letters in it like this you knoe its gonna be the cringy asot vibe. When armin screams heeey miami whaaats up you wanna hear some oldschool trance put your fucking hands up miami yeeeaah oldschhol trance vibe then you hear a orgy of all the worst trance cliches from past into. Its always this when mainstream modern trance producers say they go oldschool.

"This is the way" is also incredibly cringy title. So poetic and imaginative. Not forced at all, right?

I wonder if Airwave was inspired by Mandalorian when he wrote This Is The Way.

Longer sample of cheeky played here

Not quite a fan of the tracks. However knowing what Airwave are capable of, this could be start for something interesting from him in the future. I'm looking forward to it.

I'm never in the mood to critique tracks/releases that I would rate under 4/10 ... but this is 'Airwave' and he tries to be oldskool.. well... for a skilled trance producer who wants to show us how it was in the good old days this is somehow super weak, sorry to say ... sounds more like a quick production from a newcomer who was born after the millenium..

imho this EP is a much better reinterpretation of 90's Belgium sound, released earlier this year on '9300 Records'

I'm glad someone else said it, so I didn't have to. It's so strange too because even his late 2010s JOOF output is extremely strong compositionally and texturally quite detailed. This sounds so shallow and flat.
