Encountered Alan's tracks all over the place, but to see an album drop today with 32 high quality trancey bangers... Color me shocked. Quality is very high.

From Alan:

Releasing a new album after a long life break :)
It's a collection of tracks and jams made during the last 3 years where doubts have been my trusted conductors.
Hope you enjoy it!

Much love from Italy,
Alessio

Whoa! Gave a quick skim through the previews, sounding really really good so far, very varied in terms of styles. Will give a proper listen this weekend!

loving some of the sounds/vibe/atmosphere, but most of these just feel too basic and underdeveloped and predictiblto me. Lacks more memorable basslines, better drum arrangements and that stuff. It lacks musical talent/creativty and proper structure I feel. its just too quickly and hastily put together/produced. Its too freeform and bang-on wonky for me.

racks and jams

Mmm, exactly....jams.

3 years is hasty? lol. I mean, I see nearly the same comment from you on almost all the Nutrance stuff so it's not exactly a surprise.

But at the same time, as a DJ, there are some great set tools in here even for the less complex tracks. I rarely listen to albums like this in isolation, I think of tracks like this as part of a broader palette of colors of sound and and ingredients to set a mood and build energy in a set. Sometimes the less complex tracks present more fun in long blending and building energy. It's very similar to old Goa, which you probably know, was often live recordings of... jams. Mixing Goa is a blast b/c you can layer tracks up and create something new. Same with this stuff honestly. Rough around the edges really doesn't matter in context of energy building and creating a journey.

well, if you read what it says it says made during the last 3 years. it doesnt specify anything about individual tracks. Just listen to most of tracks, they are simply structured tracks.

Fair point and obviously I know this aswell, still though, my critique remains. Hopefully I can enjoy it for what it is ;)

IMPRESSIVE!

I think every Trance-head should be able to find at least 3 favourite tracks on this release... there is NO bad track on in!

here are my picks:

Alan Backdrop - Oneiron

Alan Backdrop - Turbulence

Alan Backdrop - Riasi

Been following AB for a few years now and everything he does is brilliant. He produces everything with hardware, and some real authentic pieces too. It's not you're typical trance but has a cross mix of techno, Psy, and trance.

For me he's very inspiring and this album is top quality. Noone drops a 32 track album for €13.50. this could quite easily have been 3 seperate albums.

A Space For Love he got those vocals and those warm pads so spot on reminds me of the old summery trance that was in 2001-2003

I'm a bit disappointed with this. Expected more considering how much I liked his track Solace Sea from two years ago. A very good effort to release so many tracks. Unfortunately the overall sound is quite monotonous. The production skills are good and the musicality is there at times. However the same mood/vibe is replicated 95% of the time.

Tracks 19 and 20 are my standouts and have supported those. Purple State sounds like a remix/tribute to Push - Strange World. A talented artist for sure and look forward to hearing more from him in the future.

Only about halfway through and I have to say I agree with Propeller and Daysleeper here. Nothing stood out so far to be honest. All sound pretty great but all sound like demos. But I'll give it a full chance, Alan deserves it for sure!

This album is what I would dub a very refreshing, well produced, original Gem, and very much a case of shut up and take my money.

👌
