Saw this on r/oilandgasworkers, thoughts @Gagi @jetflag (and anyone else)?
In my honest opinion if you got hung up on the Left VS Right and Liberal VS Conservative scheme, you’ve fallen victim to the grift, let all the talking points get in your head and dug your heels in on one particular side.
Can you articulate what leftist anarchism propaganda is? What about socialist ideals? And what about traditional American values?
A lot of people are frustrated with what is being called “capitalism” in this country, because they’re getting the shit end of the stick and their frustration and anger is pretty valid if you ask me.
I’ve found that if you have any kind of moral compass and possess any type of ability to critical think, you’ll find that both sides of this fucked up spectrum are just self serving grifters praying on impressionable people.
Original thread. OP was a 6-hour account disappointed that an oil & gas subreddit leaned too much toward the left. The above is a comment in response to OP's "concerns."
failure to understand societal systems and as such choosing to oversimplify all and everything
So what's the alternative? How should that redditor have responded to OP's concerns?failure to understand societal systems and as such choosing to oversimplify all and everything as "well they're all just assholes grifters, be kind bro"
Critical Race Theory Affirmative action, Equity and Identity politics are "bland and centrist" according to Hot TunaSays the person who labelled the Biden administration "very far left".
I have no idea. I would need to read the whole reddit thread thoroughly and I only responded to asking what I think of that particular post.So what's the alternative? How should that redditor have responded to OP's concerns?
who also has no clue about anything remotely far left going on on college campuses
Good for you my manI literally work on one, and visit many more in my daily life. Nothing that your right wing grifter heroes tell you is happening is actually happening in real life, as I repeatedly tell you and you repeatedly choose to ignore.
Been skimming through it a bit. And I actually think the first couple of post are the most usefull. So what's the alternative? How should that redditor have responded to OP's concerns?
Fair enough. I guess where the commenter went wrong from your perspective is when they brought up capitalism and its flaws, and when they implied other systems would be better.I have no idea. I would need to read the whole reddit thread thoroughly and I only responded to asking what I think of that particular post.
And, like I said, I think it’s a bit of a nul argument. Yes, we know politicians by enlarge are self-serving. That doesn’t mean there aren’t systems who demonstrably work better than others to improve one’s condition, in this case wealth wise, and those systems are distributed on a political spectrum.
So to brush that off as “well proponents of anything on that political spectrum are all just grifters just have a moral compass, there fixed it” (whilst mentioning two extremely morally deviating political systems in one sentence) is what I call a Shallowy, (opposite of a Deepity https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Deepity) and not very sophisticated to say the least.
For some context: the US oil & gas industry leans heavily conservatively. I've only worked in the industry for one summer internship, but what I can say is that the industry invests a lot in conservative/Republican interests. The oil & gas sub being "too liberal" must have felt like whiplash for OP.Been skimming through it a bit. And I actually think the first couple of post are the most usefull.
Reddit, as a whole, leans left. and is quote: "stomping grounds for 18-29 year olds/ Russian trolls and college students"
Correct. OP deleted his account within a few days, but surely Parler would welcome him.Now if that is something OP wishes to see fixed then he's already part of the solution by sticking around and engaging, if he doesn't want to see it fixed that way by putting in the efford, well, there's plenty more conservative or liberatarian leaning sites for him to go too.
Oh No its not even that. I agree that theres plenty wrong with capitalism. He went wrong when he lumbered in every and all systems (incl capitalism) and the proponents or detractors thereoff under 1 "grift" banner, and then suggested the solution was to "just be a good guy". I guess where the commenter went wrong from your perspective is when they brought up capitalism and its flaws, and when they implied other systems would work better
lmfao the can opener
This has the same energy as:
it is fucked up. And I for one am firmly against tax scams (something my country is known for and firmly enabled by its government)View attachment 859
@jetflag when a prominent right-winger and a prominent left-winger agree, that's when you know something is fucked up. If only both sides could agree that, yeah, this is a crap situation.
