And the last section here (which isn’t complete yet) probably shouldn’t be last in the track… (the main section before it here should instead) Guess I’d better write the beginning

This is not a critique, but more of a curiosity - your drums always seems kind of weak/quieter. In some of your songs it really works amazing, but I feel in some you might want to try making them at least a bit more pronounce. It's really hard to judge.

This is a great example for some reference, Balearic Islands ❤

Cheers man. I’ve wondered the same. I got to work on it, I keep it abit simple drum wise because the atmosphere and most sounds are often too deep in reverb. My reverb weakness Weird how I know it but rarely fix it lol

edit: I forgot to mention I haven’t treated it yet, I’ve recently learned a bit about compression eq and limiting. That atleast would maybe improve itor make the drums stand out. . I will try reducing the swim of reverb to or work out how to use busses to glue the sound more, try make it more cohesive.

Getting there with this now. Added significant parts. Ignore levels etc. getting the arrangement sorted first.
Not sure about the sparkly lead in the first main section, may alter the fx etc. Not much treatment done yet (compressor eq limiting to come)

More to fill it up with but I can see a finished product arising in not too distant future.

So far tho…. Sent my mates arm hair standing. Goosebumps, he sent me picture to prove it!

Couple of updates. Changed that over sparkly lead sound, got 3 vst running together for it now. Put the samples in on the 2nd main section too. Waiting to add some part of the lead there next.

I’d also like to add more trills / wooshes / builds soon too.

I wandered what label might be interested when it’s finished? Plus. Is the acid too mad at times or is it within the scope of the track?

Completely replaced the poor kick. It had a horrible low frequency weirdness to it.
New Kick i deffo prefer. , any better peeps?

I really lke the disorted synth that runs through this - it maybe lacks a bit of direction in the 2nd half of the track after the break. I dont really like the kick,it doesnt suit it imo - id try one with a lower hi freq to it.

New kick added. Alteration to distorted acid synth on 2nd main part of the track ( some is too high volume) . Few more Nameste and my heart vocal samples. A snare or 2 added (will alter that a bit as might clash with the clap)

Still seems abit lacking around 5.47 and the outro / end obviously hasn’t been finished. I feel the new kick (based on a 909) is better but actually needs more bottom end ooomph. I did slap a limiter on the master channel just as experimenting on the effect of limiters on master channels. Didnt notice a big difference in the kick without that limiter so probably isn’t the limiter reducing the ooomph so will try a plugin to add bottom end. The track feels more coherent due to the limiter… but then I believe limiters are a big part of mastering too. So I guess I’ve slightly mastered it here ?

I definately am liking this especially those little vocal elements.
Also don't really see the problem with the kick, but you could try a bit of saturation and see what that adds

Love the fact your experimenting with a limiter on the master track. I've recently learned I was using it correctly but had other issues which needed to put in order first.

I think I need to research master channels and whether to use them outside of mastering. I do sometimes for ambient work put a reverb on them.
