Brainbug - Nightmare (Sinister Strings Mix) [1996]

Judging from the number of releases this track has on Discogs (46), Nightmare is certainly one of the bigger hits in trance. While in 1996 everyone was head over heels for "dream trance," Brainbug broke stereotypes by making a dark - yet catchy - trance track worthy of radio airplay.

Nightmare was one of the few tracks covered live in the Radio 1 Ibiza Prom, and it's always a delight to hear.

This has something in common with the track that Mark Reeder ni the MFS documentary declares real trance.

Other than that I find this sound very peculiar. It sort of built a bridge between old and new. Theres several tracks from 96/97 that has this more commercial vibe yet stays rather trancy and deep. I would even say that some of these has even aged better than some millenium trance, but thats a sweeping generalisation.
