celebrating ASOT 1000?

hi guys!

back in 2007-2014, i was a true follower of the ASOT radio, listening to every episode at least twice. since then, my interest in trance/asot has decreased quite heavily, but since i started to listen to old episodes of ASOT (2004-2005) during gym sessions, ive regained some interest in the show. as tomorrow marks the 1000th episodes (mad), im thinking about tuning in!
how are you all tuning in? getting drinks at a friends house, or watching it alone with a cup of green tea? any advice? im thinking about buying some beers woho! also, is there a twitch-thingy for tomorrow?

what should one expect though? i skimmed through the top 1000 list and i was pleasantly surprised since i imagine armin is only playing commercial tunes these days. please keep the positive vibez in here!

A massive acheivement by Armin,to keep the show and brand going for so long - been a staple of the Trance scene for nearly 20 years. Its a shame about the amount of trash and missing classics in the top 1000 though. But thats the listeners (of recent times) for you.

Thanks to the lockdown our shop is closed.... This means that I can listen to the music that I want!
So I am enjoying the Top 1000 to the max

Hi. How would you rate yesterday's news about new places to celebrate 1000 episodes? Utrecht in Netherlands 03 and 04 September 2021 and Krakow in Poland October 2021. Do you think Armin and ALDA have chosen great dates to celebrate the 1000th episode? I have concerns whether it will come to fruition. Because September and October are flu season months and I doubt COVID has been defeated already.
The second thing - Has anyone traveled to Poland and knows if, for example, such Krakow is suitable for celebrations? Armin couldn't take the popular Gliwice or Katowice, or Gdańsk or Wrocław, for example?
Is there anyone from Poland or has anyone gone there and can say something more about Krakow?

Well... it's difficult... I'm not sure if there will be huge events (indoor!!) in september in the Netherlands. Vaccine program is only starting up very slow currently.... And people care less and less about "rules" like social distancing. It's going to be very difficult to have this happen in September...

I will buy a weekend ticket anyway. Both days will be great.

According to the e-mail I got.... Day 1 will be a 5-hour event, with only Armin and guests. So 1 stage. A flashback on 20 years ASOT. Then on Day 2, it will be more regular "Asot Festival", with multiple stages, quote: "With talents and legendary artists". Classics stage?

In the Netherlands, the vaccination process started like this because the government woke up too late.

I am also buying, regardless of whether it will take place in this or in 2022 (As Gliwice in Poland with Dreamstate where it was supposed to be in April but it will be on Halloween Weekend 2021) But I can bet that it will not happen in Utrecht because Belgium is said TO BE UNDERLINED as the host of ASOT 1000.

Many scenes, including a scene with classics, are set up in the Jaarbeurs hall.

Can a word be asked about Poland and Krakow? It is probably a smog capital where I do not know if the organizers do not know what is going on there.

I am Irish but I live permanently in Opole and I have been to Krakow many times and I can say that it is the worst location where there has been smog here for 10 years, where our people seem to do something and fart in the chair.
I don't know why Armin took smog Krakow? Does he understand that this is a city of poisoners and there is an old Polish tradition here? Krakow was never famous for Armin and ASOT. This year, I wish it would not take place because it is a murder for 25 thousand. people.

Wasn't there speculation that Armin would retiring from the ASOT brand after this 1000 landmark? Think it was you Jan who made some observations on how he changed his behaviour around this (before the pandemic started).

Yeah Ive always said he will stop after 1000. But... thanks to Corona, he might not. He’s been home for so long... probably gave him some new energy.

I find it odd though that Ferry Corsten is involved in ASOT now. Maybe Armins new idea was: Not quitting, but still the desire of less work from the show, so invite Ferry?

Yep, regardless of the quality of the tracks themselves it's impressive that ASOT has survived and adapted to all changes in technology from the past 20 years. I don't know how many radio shows can remain active for so long, but surely it's a small proportion of all radio shows.

ASOT is too big of a brand (and commercial success) to end abruptly. Although it does seem like Armin has been getting more people involved in it in recent years, as i'd imagine the toll and effort it takes to keep it running is huge (alongside tours and producing music). Perhaps it could see a change in branding to reflect the style of music (just like A&B did with TATW).

Even though i haven't tuned into the show for god knows how many years now, i think it's probably a better thing to keep the word 'trance' in its branding. Obviously most of the show isn't really trance per se these days, but the scale of the show probably brings in more fans than the genre loses with time, since Armin is by far the single largest trance artist out there in the music industry.
