{arguable: acid techno}

Dreamy acid trance track from the early days of French techno. While not strictly trance in the same sense as, say, Humate's Love Stimulation, Acid Eiffel certainly shares many characteristics with the early '90s "melodic techno" tracks that later gave way to trance.
Resident Advisor recently reviewed Acid Eiffel and gave a bit of history around this track. The story goes that Acid Eiffel was produced in a nine to ten hour all-nighter session on a Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. The trio of producers only had a "tiny mixer with little knobs," the Roland TB-303, and the Roland JD-800. One of the producers "adjusted the EQ live," which is why is the high hats feel so dynamic. On its debut at the Paris Wake Up Party, the producers played the entire track, and the audience absolutely loved it.

A direct quote from the article that describes the track better than I ever could:
"Acid Eiffel" presents its memorable acid lines in a context very different from acid's Chicago roots. The 303 is clean, spacious and ethereal. It floats above the track like a constantly morphing cloud. The chirruping percussion recalls 808 State's "Pacific State," another uplifting classic. The "whale song" sound Garnier describes was a nod to classic disco. Despite the track's length, the constant movement, due to the live mixdown, means it never feels repetitive.
