Released together in 2000. I personally strongly prefer the latter, Exploration of Space is not only overplayed but I also don't really like the melody (to me it sounds like the outcome of randomly banging your keyboard, at least in the initial part). On the other hand, Melt to the Ocean sounds fantastic. It could have the best melody they've come up with so far.

Exploration of Space

Melt to the Ocean

These remixes (from "Back 2 the Future") are very good, and at least in the case of EoS the remix beats the original in my view:

Exploration of Space (Cosmic Gate's Back 2 the Future Remix) [2010]

Melt to the Ocean (John O'Callaghan's Main Room Remix) [2011]

I never really liked Cosmic Gate to be honest. The only one of these I like is the B2tF mix of EoS that one is pretty nice, acutally.

Exploration of Space is actually a really good track. I wouldn't doubt that people back then mistook it for Sandstorm, though. They have similar "sounds."

I feel sorry for people who likes this garbage. Pure fucking garbage.
Cosmic Gate is just as bad today as back then

To be fair they did go to shit after Back 2 Back 3, perhaps sooner than the rest of the scene. Most of what they released after that was boring and generic. But that's 2007, so years later. Before that, their sound was one of the best - at least to me.

Guilty pleasure of mine. I was surprised to hear it being played on Jackie Chan's movie Mr Tuxedo as well.

I always thought that background music was a didgeridoo with that repetitive chord.

I have been hating their new stuff for the past 19 years and they've been producing shit for a long time now.

Up there with the likes of Overdrive with a such a cheesy melody but so good that some people hate it.

It's a bit cheesy when listen to it todays but still a great track. Cosmic Gate from 1999-2005 were the new masters of the then-modern Hardtrance. They originally are from my country (Germany) which also has a long history with hardtrance. ;) They were also involed in the German hardtrance label E-CUTZ which was the signature for their sound (great releases there, check the label on discogs).

Now they sound boring as fuck with all these generic sounds. Back in 2006/2007 (when E-Cutz became defunct) I understand their motiviation in changing the style and back then, it was a fresh restart. Only years later they founded themselves in the big bigroom oil tank and were sunken to the ground where the
quantity lies. Another sad story.

Cosmic Gate were huge. The Truth, The Wave, Exploration of Space, Fire Wire, Human Beings, Milky Way…

And in 2006 the “new” Cosmic Gate was great too, with Analog Feel, Body of Conflict, Should Have Known.

It’s gone too pop and slow last couple of years, but they had a great run.
