Jon Coles (a.k.a. Deepcry) has been producing in various forms for over 20 years, with releases on Bonzai and Morphosis from 2010 onwards, until 2016 where family life took over and music had to take a back seat, until now. Jon's sound is rooted in prototypal progressive trance, always melodic, atmospheric and dancefloor ready. This 125bpm follow-up to 2022's Alpha is another exploration of the deep trance sound, with mysterious Visage-esque synths, thrusting percussion and a whopping hook which emerges at the break.

Gorgeous slice of progressive trance. Love the melody and atmosphere it creates, lovely tune.

whats so gorgeous about it?? Like i dont mean to be rude or provocative but I really dont get what you guys see in this? well yes its not terrible in any way but opposite of that its nowhere near great or even very good. Its just decent to me. To me its the very typical mostly generic beatwork modern prog. with that very heavy focus on the clap and shaker in the beat, and sloppy minimal repetitive grooves with a bit of texture and hardly developes to anything interesting.

I mean yeah at the beginnig im like yeah this sound nice and full with a nice mysterious vibe and nice atmosphere, nice rounded kick, decent bassline, then when the claps and shaker/hats comes in im just thrown off immediatly, it gets repetitiv and annoying quite fast. He adds some textures, and twinkly stuff on top but thats it really. Its not BAD, but its not interesting or musically compelling. Its a soooooo middle-of-the-road-production to me, but stuff like this always seem to be enjoyed by many of you...

Its mildly interesting to me, to put it simply.

Yeah not for me either, quite agree with D. I don't mind it playing and it has some positives, just not overly blown away.

Directly noticed the nod to Visage, as this came up on the compilation. Nice track!

Just listening to it on last week's PTR and found myself singing "We fade to grey". By no means a bad thing :) Would be fun to hear it mashed up.

EDIT: and then Rich does it himself 😂

Based not only on this long sad comment but on your sad comments overall - you just don't like trance music generally with a couple exceptions mate. Yet for some reason you are delusional and thinking of yourself as of a diehard trance fan and spending lots of time on what lefts you unsatisfied. I mean, if I'd only enjoy a couple tracks a year - not a chance I'd consider myself a fan of a style, register on a music forums for this music genre etc.

Check out Einstein quote about insanity, it should get you thinking maybe.
