It's just that it's the exact same pluck synth used by any other 138-producer. There are other pre-sets you know...

It's as if this genre has only this type of kick, and only this type of pluck, and this type of rolly-bassline, and also these weak tickely percloops.

I swear I've heard this track hundreds of times in 2013 alone. As generic as they come. I might have praised it for some tastefulness if it wasn't a collection of presets in a template.

Current uplifting music on Trancefix goes like:
case 1 - too much steroids = bad track
case 2 - too oldschool, nothing innovative, same pluckey sound = bad track
??? unknown case = good track

Pls can someone fill the questionmarks??
Seems like there is no way to appreciate 138 stuff here on this site :/

That's probably true. Let me give you my reasons as to why:

I have heard lots of these tracks and they are, put simply, just boring to my ears. The classics remain good but even then, for the last 15 years there has been an overabundance of this style, and it's not progressing, only diverting or borrowing from other sub-genres (like psy) which eventually turns into a fad. Everyone is just trying to do the same things over and over again, or bring back the old vibes, but in both cases we're just listening to what we already could've in the past 15 years. There's barely any creativity related to this sub-genre, and knowing most new tracks bring nothing new to the table kills the potential enjoyment even less, and drowns out the emotional response.

Technically it's not that good either. Most producers have little to no regard/talent for making technically good and detailed stuff (that's why stuff like Hoopoe - Hutan got very praised here). It's so standardized that the only thing that varies are the melodies, and even the melody patterns have run out long ago - so again, we're hearing more of the same/similar.

In other words - if the new stuff doesn't really bring anything new to the table (creatively, technically etc.), why would I not go back to the stuff I loved years ago when I discovered the genre? Why would I keep listening to new stuff then, when it evokes no emotion (or relies on cheap emotions)?

I understand most of your points, but sometimes, these guy come up with a really good melody. Darren Porter or Xijaro and Pitch for example. Yes they are ultra steroid, but hey...melodic-ly, its outstanding. And this track has also great melody. If this is released in 2004 it will be porbably become a classic.
Most of you guys, are stuck in the past sometimes. Im also a classic lover, but time has changed...I try to appreciate when someone tries to create something connected to the past...like these gyus with the melody and sound, also 2 breakdowns. Not sure what more do they need to de to please you. This track is top class, I would rate it really high as I said above.

I wouldn't necessarily say I'm stuck in the past, I love discovering new music. Times have changed, and uplifting unfortunately hasn't (much). And I just look for more in music. Just the melody doesn't do it for me these days, if it's not outstanding enough to overshadow everything else in a track. And two breakdowns is just a gimmick, just like a 10-minute track. Doesn't change much for me if I don't like the overall track.

What do they have to do? Well, nothing. Not sure they are creative, talented or bold enough to create something I want. And I recognize they shouldn't cater to me. But I still have an opinion, which is more about the entire scene than it is about the individuals.

If you have listened to trance say 5+ years (especially 10) or more and dont understand the critique against something like this, oh man, i dont know where to even start. Gagi put it well. It seems theres one group that moves on with trance craving something more/different after they have listened a couple of years versus the other group which is the FOREVERLOVINGUPLIFTING listener. They will always get down with an uplifting melody. Maybe you are in that camp.

Current uplifting music on Trancefix goes like:

case 2 - too oldschool, nothing innovative, same pluckey sound = bad track

I dont see anything illogical with that. No one says it sounds "too oldschool". And if they say that they probably mean its a bad interpretation of oldschool.

Disappointing production. I would expect more from these names but this is very uninspiring.

Do it like I do, enjoy it, and let losers lose their shit and not enjoy it.
If Trance isn't working for them, maybe they should try something else.

Track reminds me of old school Anjuna. By the way, Temple One's Freshly Squeezed presets for Spire sound a lot like oldschool 2000s Anjuna trance.
Blame him if you want :p

I like it. I became interested in this type of music in 2016, and I wish there was a lot more of it.
If y'all want to hear true generic, listen to Aly & Fila, Fady & Mina or maybe FSOE entirely.
It's always that DPFTE Kick with generic Spire rolling bassline, massive crashes and ridiculous compression that boosts the high ends until you're deaf.

I don't see why people who aren't a fan are "losers" right away. I find it interesting you see this as great, while saying FSOE ís generic.

I think for a lot of us this track and those are exactly the same genre, and the same sound-wise.

How can you wish for more, there's dozens of these tracks released every week.

138/140 or Uplifting can be as good as any other subgenre of Trance, but It's been what, 14 years now of the same thing over and over again. Think how much the entire Trance sound and genre system changed from 99 to 04. It didn't remain still for even a minute! 14 years!!! of the same structure, feel and approach, its painful stagnation and too hard to swallow for long term listeners. I can now listen to the first 10 seconds of a track and know exactly what's about to take place, from start to finish.

You could argue that if the general structure/formula is still good then why not keep doing it, which is fair enough. There are many good uplifting tracks form the last 5 years that follow the same formula as this one more or less. But It's like (generally speaking) all the good ingredients i.e cohesive flow, pleasant sounds, tension, mysticism, organicness, softness and experimentation got stripped away from the genre as the last 10 years went on... while the loudness and epicness increased so much it becomes almost a caricature of itself. I cant help but think the producers think the explosive melody in the middle is the ONLY identity and soul of the track, the primary thing to master and then build the standard requirements around it just because it needs to be done.

Yes, I'm totally with you, but the uplifting guys of the 2010 era will not change the game.

Like the new generations don't really cared about Rock music in the late 80's, young kids came up with Grunge or Shoegaze in early 90's and guitar music became popular again, same with Rap in the late 00's, again younstaz changed the spirit of the genre and look how its Trap big at this moment. Also Techno in 2010 was somenthing only for the true freaks and only new guys like Dax J or I Hate Models helped to reincarnate the genre, now is Techno again the main thing on club floors.

So what I want to say with my shitty english is that the genre needs new talented and openminded kids who will bring fresh air to the genre. Only this will help, believe me.

I don't think the trance scene is nearly as bad as the comments above suggest. The reason for so many negative comments in this form is that the mods allow any old rubbish to get posted, and you get mostly the Armin/steroid fanboys who post. So, you're bound to get negativity. There is so much good stuff that never gets posted on here or if it does it gets buried under a deluge of the latest steroid/FSOE/Armada releases. One forum is not representative of the whole scene.

Look forward seeing some topics from you with stuff we are missing Propeller :)

There are indeed a handful users who post WAY TOO MUCH music on there. 99% of the times it's not even a topic with text, just a dump with a youtube video.

We have tried to demotivate users and try to make them see why it's no good. Why they are better off posting just a few every week: the best of the best.

We limited the amount of threads users are allowed to make in the 'classic' sections, to avoid spam. Maybe we should have such a rule for this general "upcoming" section too....

Because we all agree with you :)
