Based on samples:

1st: 5.5/10
2nd: could be a 7/10 maybe 6. Need to hear full

Def has the regulae bordlerline pvd copypaste though. Would love to see more daring/original basslines and choice of drums etc.

Hmm not for me these. NY probably preferred as it has a prominent base of the two.

They're ok, but nothing too special in my opinion.
- Lost in New York: the style really reminds me of Rated R, who had some decent songs in and around 2019-2020. The melody is pretty nice, though slightly forgettable. Don't know what the idea behind the rolling bass was from 3:27 onward, it feels rather out of place. The used bass is already pretty strong in and of itself, making this part stand out as a result.
- Balearic Skies: don't have a lot to say other than that it feels kinda empty because of there seemingly being only a sub bass. The rest of the track feels kinda generic as well.

I think Lost in New York is the better one of the two, but I'm gonna be honest and say that this is one of the weaker Borderline releases. Whispers from the Past was better.

Yeah I feel like if Borderline artists would at least try using analog drum machines for their kicks / percussion, it would already make a big difference and give the tracks more character and bring them closer in line to the "Gatecrasher" sound they seem to be going for somewhat.

But using the plain tired vanilla samples and sounds with plastic mastering just robs most of the releases of their potential character and memorability (for me at least) and this release is no different. Especially Balearic Skies could have benefitted from that here.

Listened again, and to be fair BS is sort of enjoyable. It has a good oomph to it, but the drums in general are too basic and yeah I also dont like this on-beat one-note sub-bass. The arps in the build has a nice tense vibe about them and the main-melody isnt too generic for me, but after a second go yeah, its almost as bad as LINY. its the choice of instruments that is pulling it down the most. They all seem to use the same samples for their drums/synths.

I think Lost in NY is the most generic of these two. Just right from the start it has that very typical activa sound-bank and formulaic structure. And i think the stabby lead is terribly generic and watered down melody.. BS doesnt quite seem to follow the typical formulaic structure for me, which makes it a little more interesting. But overall both these tunes are just another copy-paste activa sound-bank copycat.
