Headphones....together with a good set of speakers they are a producers best friend.

Unfortunately I don't have the space for a pair of speakers, so I have to rely on my headphones. For a long time I had to use my gaming headphones which are very good for gaming but not really for music production because they are really bass boosted. A couple of months ago I came across another pair whilst doing some tidying up my future mancave/studio (very long project). I've used them for playing on my old keyboard and I thought I would try them for production.. The difference is really astonishing and logical since it has a flat EQ.
Only thing is that the wire isn't to great anymore so I'm looking to get a new one.

To cut a long story short....I've off course been looking around, but there are many and for many budgets.
Now I'm wondering what kind of headphones do you guys use and what are your experiences with them.

Cheers guys...

I believe I have Samson SR850 studio headphones. Don't think I had any issues with them as the sound is very clear, however I was never really into proper mixing and mastering so I can't really give you a pro opinion.

My new Sennheiser Momentum 4 have just arrived today and I've never listened to music in such good quality before.
Very happy about this purchase.

Ive been disappointed with these. They look fantastic, probably best headphone design out there and are comfortable too. But the UX really frustrates me. Never quite sure when I turned it off, always turning it on by accident, forget kind of what tap gestures are for what. Just a bit frustrating to use, even though the sound is good.

for mixing/studio monitoring i've been an akg user for years and been through a few different pairs/models. been making tracks largely with my k702's for about 3 years now and i swear by em at this point. for djing i will use just about anything, in fact i tend to turn up to gigs with a cheap pair of headphones because i've heard too many stories about dj's getting their hd25's and such stolen

Love em for DJing but they are a bit shite in the high end.

Love my HD6XX’s, great for a reasonably priced pair of open backs (and easy on the ears).
I’ll give those a check when i come across them. I never have any problems mixing high end rich sounds so for a studio monitoring headphone it always gets the job done

I almost forgot about this thread 😏
But it happened to be that son needed a pair for school (AV-specialist) and in their list of necessities there where the Presonus HD9. So since there was also a student discount involved I ordered 2 pair. One for him and one for me.
I must say that I really like them pretty much.

Beyerdynamic archers, especially models such as the DT 770 Pro, DT 990 Pro and DT 880, are considered to be excellent
