Lovey sounds and oldschool trance vibes m8.

couple of pointers:

per your usual, you insist on having an intro. That’s fine. It’s just that it drags out way to long for this to be comfortably mixed in any set. Recommend making a separate version where you force yourself to make a version that starts with drums.

at around 4 minutes six second I’m like: “yeah! Here comes the crescendo!” ….. but it never does. 🤷‍♂️. The track just “flows” on and then fades out. Which is a shame because when the kick comes in after the break you seem be wanting to build up to something, except you never do.

You are improving on the arrangement front defo. Just keep asking yourself why you are doing what you are doing (like for instance brining in an element at x point, why do I use or don’t use a complementary fx there? Etc)

👍

Cheers bud, decent advice 👍. I have only just learned how to avoid long intros but started hexagonal point before that. I’ve started a track of a different style for me I’ve done it on, a track I’m working on where the beat starts immediately.140 bpm. Might post on tf when it’s much progressed beyond its current 3m.

I disagree it should be scrapped. Some of the sounds are lovely and the atmosphere in moments is just awesome. You also have a signature sound coming through that feels unique to you, which is really cool. If I heard some if this in 20 sec snippet for some track I would be very excited. Honestly the synths and FX are 10/10 to me. Honestly love how you use sounds mate.

It's definitely random though with how its arranged and all fits together. Its not just the arrangement, but also the transitions and time spent on different sections. A track can definitely have lots of different feeling sections, but needs pro level skill to arrange into a cohesive journey. Given that arrangement is your Achilles heel maybe try and keep things more simple in terms of the number of ideas at one time for a track. Daysleeper is right that its structured weirdly and therefore no proper build or tension or release. All the ingredients are there though.

My one sound design criticisms is maybe the kick, which is a little plastically, and the percussion is a bit basic in general. I really notice it at 3:15.

Thanks man. I started a re-arrangement tonight. It’s not going too badly. 🙂

I like it, a song doesn't have to be perfect and remember you will never be able to please everybody. But yeah transitions sounds rough, I spend most of my time these day automating a ton of stuff for smoother transitions. Also adding some effects and noise here and there helps a lot.
