Ok, reactivated downloads now again. Just tell me when you finished downloading
Thanks man, I downloaded pretty much all of them. Great stuff. Just listened to Meteor, I love the synth hook in this.

Hi Love Nation, I listened to all tracks you posted here and I really love them (just I like less Angel Knights to be honest). I particularly like the use of percussions, I'm wondering how do you go about drums (apart from the kick and snare), do you use a drum plugin or just edit samples in an audio track directly, or anything else? I never felt particularly particularly good at drums to be honest. Also do you have a good knowledge of music theory or are play particularly an instrument or just let you inspiration and your creative instinct guide you? I'm often wondering this when listen to music of someone.

Hey Genesys, thank you!

For drums, i use the ableton drum sampler 'impulse'. I use several of them, for example: one for each - snare, hihat, shaker and then maybe two more impulse with several elements in each, for example one with toms/congas and one with wood/rims or other drum samples.
For each impulse, i add compressor, sometimes any distortion, then low cut filter and maybe EQ. Then, as insert on a return track, some reverb and maybe delay.
For good mixing would be important, to EQ thoroughly all elements of the track, but i dont do that so much. Also systematically set different predelay times of the reverbs of the different elements of the track, would be good. And also set panorama. This way, your track will become a 3D structure. But i do that randomly, dont like technical mixing so much. I rather like the part of the production, when creating melodies and harmonies and add much huge reverb and delay :)

I studied audio production and i play the piano since im 5 years old and had 15 years of piano classes, mostly playing classical music. But back then, i didnt like to practise so much the classical music, so i started to just play what sounds good for me. It went from trial and error, to composing, to improvising.
I have a midi e-piano, but most of my tracks are not created with it, i prefer to draw the melodies and harmonies with the computer mouse. For example, my track 'heaven' is mainly made by mouse, but in the last third of the track, there is a bit of keyboard improvisation. I mostly do a mixture of music theory, instinct and trial and error.

I love to use the pentatonic scale for composing tracks. Its very simple and there is a special trick to start it easy. Its a coincidence, that the black keys are exactly the pentatonic scale, when you use the key 'E flat' as keynote. Try this out:

Accompaniment: Make a pad with two notes sounding together, only using the black keys. Spacing between them is a quint. That means, you pad is made of the two notes E flat / B flat. Then switch to other quints on the black keys and come back to E flat / B flat, when the loop starts again.
Example of a 4 bar loop:
2 bars: E flat / B flat
1 bar: G flat / D flat
1 bar: D flat / A flat

Melody: Make a melody, but remember to add much huge reverb and delay :) Play or draw with the mouse some random notes, but only using the black keys.
Example for a 4 bar loop, most simple:
2 bars: E flat - G flat - A flat - B flat
1 bar: G flat - A flat - B flat - D flat
1 bar: D flat - E flat - G flat - A flat

This way, you can make a track with for example 5 different melodies, and all the melodies will always perfectly match together!
For melodies, you can also add additional notes: The white key F matches good to the pentatonic scale. The white key A is good for a blues mood. The white key C is good for a happy mood. There are many more possibilities to add or replace notes for different moods.
For accompaniment, you can also add additional notes to get different harmonic moods. But sometimes, i just make for example harmonies with 4 notes sounding together, using trial and error.
If you want to make a track using a different keynote: Just make the track on the keynote E flat. Then transpose everything to the wanted keynote.

Feel free to ask more questions. I can also open a thread about music theory, if there is some interest.

Hi Love Nation, thank you very much for your reply!

I didn't even know what the Ableton's impulse was actually a drum sampler, I thought it was something related to impulse response for convolution reverb LOL, so now I added it to my generator list in the left column.
Yes, you don't have to EQ a lot. Depending of what sounds you're using, but if you use hi-quality sound made by sound designers who already did al the EQ things, you don't have to EQ, except EQ for making everything sounds good together in the mixing process of course. In my first track, I EQ a bit too much quite a few channels, so in big speakers it can sound a bit camouflaged.

Me too, mixing is clearly not my favorite part, contrary to the creative part that takes place before. I'm really satisfy when it sounds good and original.

That's good that you played a lot of classical music, it can be a good source of inspiration for composing in another genre that you like. Personally I never listened usually classical music, because I find it has too much varation in terms of chords and key. To me, a music needs a good balance between variation and repetition to sounds good. The last time I listened to a classical piece of music, I found the melodies and harmonies very good, but the fact that it varies so much throwed me.

I listened a lot to music since my young age (I'm 25 now), but I never learnt to play an instrument until recently. Now I play piano and have a pretty good knowledge of music theory.

I didn't know this method, so thank you.

Yes, I'm interested in open a thread about music theory, expecially about chord progressions (why this or that chord progression establish a such mood, why some start by this or that degree and ending on this or that degree of the scale). Thanks in advance.

Im also not a big fan of classical music. I just played it always in my piano classes, when i was young, because its the only way to become good at playing piano. But for producing electronic music, its not that important. Like i said, i mostly create my melodies and harmonies with the mouse, not with the keyboard.
Ok, i will create a thread about music theory

Thank you very much! No, didnt send to labels yet. But i have some other projects, where release could be possible soon. I think, labels dont like music, that was made public already, like on soundcloud or other platforms. So, when i would send something to labels, then only with private link of soundcloud

Wow, some really nice tracks here. I'm surprised you're giving them away but it's big hearted of you. You could have tried to get a deal with a label. I'm sure there would have been some interested. White Hole is my favourite, really emotional track and would sound good sped up too I imagine. Since you've given them away, if you don't mind would you make the downloads available again please? Many thanks.

Thanks very much! I think i will have a release with an EP soon, but it will be another project, its more techno style. But the love nation style is my biggest passion, so would be nice to also release some stuff. But dont know, which labels would fit for that.
Ok, will activate downloads, just tell me when you finished.

Got them, thank you so much! What is the name of your techno project so we can look out for it? You make really good melodic music, you have a talent and a feel for it. There are lots of trance/progressive labels out there, just do some research on Beatport if you don't know them already. You can also self release on Bandcamp without being signed to a label. Let me know if you need some ideas for labels and I can send them to you.

Thanks, youre welcome! Yes would be nice to get some ideas about labels. I looked for tracks, because i made some sets, but there were mostly only very few good tracks per label. Maybe i should search more for trance labels. Here is my techno project, is a bit hard and i will delete the tracks soon i think:
