Been a huge fan of Maara for some time. Her tracks are weird, dark, dirty, and often full of sex (google the B2 title Sheela Na Gig for instance lol). Maara always adds a nice dark flavor to an underground set. While I was excited to share this here, it did make me wonder, what genre even is this? Strong Goa and Psychadelic vibes, but it certainly fuses some ideas from adjacent genres. When I mix the underground stuff, I don't really care what the genre is honestly, so long as a set develops a cohesive flow, is fun, and elcectic. But I am curious what others think about this one. Anyway.

Maara’s out to make mischief with the wryly titled ‘Hear Me Neigh’.Whether that title’s in reference to a certain equine dissociative or purely a love letter to our majestic, four-legged friends, well, we’ll leave that for you to decide. Either way, the prolific prog house luminary lends her Midas touch to four equally deadly traxxx.Following last year’s ‘Fancy Feast’ EP comes another proper dose of heads-down hedonism. It’s an eagerly-awaited return to the Kalakari fold, and true to form, opener ‘The Horse Track’ comes hurtling into the first furlong at full pelt. Big equestrian NRG packing some seriously rugged heft and neighing samples aplenty. Then, bringing more of that insistent throb, ‘Juicy Tracksuit’ is no less alluring or propulsive, albeit while channelling some Y2K aesthetic. There’s more of that turn-of-the-century flex on the next one too. Evoking Love Parade circa 1999, ‘God Save The Bender’ deploys scything hard trance flourishes while opening a portal to the fractal realm. And finally, ‘Sheela Na Gig’ lands dripping with more of the seductive appeal that has become Maara’s hallmark.

Her Juicy track didnt do anything for me, and samples not really getting me excited either. Love the vibe and energy, also percs sounds really nice, but find it musically boring for my taste. Really enjoyed her album from this year though, was so good, maybe my favourite from the year

Divisive E.P. Indeed! Didn't like the first two tracks. Juicy Tracksuit for me was ruined by that pitchbending siren synth. It brought me back PTSD of when every Coldharbour release started doing pitchbends after Dustin Zahn - Stranger To Stability (Len Faki Mix) popularized it.

The last two however are sounding great, especially God Save The Bender, great bassline and groove/atmo, that one would absolutely knock some heads off live.

Tried Juicy a few times but it didn’t land. Don’t think this EP will be my jam. This one from her recently was better I feel, more flow and trance touches.
