So, it was 1998 and I was visiting university friends in Cardiff, and we did our statutory trip to HMV. There was this compilation CD that caught my eye called "Deeper Shades of Hooj: Volume Two", and for some reason, I bought it - even though I'd never heard of Hooj Choons and didn't know anything about the tracks & artists listed on the back.
Turned out that purchase was absolutely the right decision. I'd never heard music like that which was contained on these discs. It was like the Perfecto Fluoro style Goa Trance I'd come to love, but slower, it had breakbeats, it gradually built.
And so, which track to pick from this awesome compilation? There are so many, I might post more, but a quick search reveals that (surprisingly) no-one's ever posted "Paradise" by Miro. So let's rectify that.
I'm going to post three mixes. First, the "Farmatronic Creeping Mix". A breakbeat wonder, and probably my favourite mix:
Next up, Red Jerry's Longdubbyvocal Mix:
and finally, because the rules demand it, the Original Mix (which I'd never actually heard until tonight!)
Enjoy!
