So, it was 1998 and I was visiting university friends in Cardiff, and we did our statutory trip to HMV. There was this compilation CD that caught my eye called "Deeper Shades of Hooj: Volume Two", and for some reason, I bought it - even though I'd never heard of Hooj Choons and didn't know anything about the tracks & artists listed on the back.

Turned out that purchase was absolutely the right decision. I'd never heard music like that which was contained on these discs. It was like the Perfecto Fluoro style Goa Trance I'd come to love, but slower, it had breakbeats, it gradually built.

And so, which track to pick from this awesome compilation? There are so many, I might post more, but a quick search reveals that (surprisingly) no-one's ever posted "Paradise" by Miro. So let's rectify that.

I'm going to post three mixes. First, the "Farmatronic Creeping Mix". A breakbeat wonder, and probably my favourite mix:

Next up, Red Jerry's Longdubbyvocal Mix:

and finally, because the rules demand it, the Original Mix (which I'd never actually heard until tonight!)

Enjoy!

Love them all! Gonna make one of these TOTW, just as soon as I decide which mix.

Yay! So hard to choose isn't it?!!!
I chose the original because that's the first one I heard. But basically, every mix absolutely deserves it!

I wish a deeper, smoother and more atmospheric version existed, like PQM - The Flying Song (PQM's Deephead Mix), or Luminary - My World.

Excellent, and that gives me great reason to become more familiar with it after all these years - I'd always assumed the Red Jerry mix was the de-facto "Original", so very glad of the forum rule to go and seek out the ACTUAL Original when posting :)

Haha that's the first time I actually didn't feel someone was annoyed by that rule!

Wonderful stuff, had forgotten all about this. I have the same CD but it's been in the loft for years.

All versions are sweeeeeet. Red Jerry my got to.

Love the subby/dubby sounds in the breakbeat remix, such a 90's kind of sound, wish it was used more today

Just listened to this on repeat for around 40 minutes. One of the greatest vocals in all of trance.
