tbh.... I am bored of TF and thinking about stopping with posting.
Recently I posted a new track from John O'Callaghan and even that thread received only 1 reply.
95% of the artists posted in the UR are completely unknown to me.

Even Aly&Fila or Armin releases for example recieve only a handful of replies....
And if you see 10+ topics, it is most of the time about how garbage that track is.
For example that MurZo track!
I am 100% sure that if that track was NOT released on FSOE, more people would like that track

Theres clearly 2 camps. Those that dont care about any of the mainstream stuff and those that do. Some dip their toes into the mainstream scene more than others.

I have seen negativity in here lately. People bashing others just because they like a particular song, style of trance or label.
Why cant we just let be. If it isn't your cup of tea then just move on.

Ok thanks for calling this out. Surprised you feel you haven't seen this before though, I remember when the big mainstream/trouse/edm shift happened back around early 2010's and for years people went mental, including myself. I made some huge rant posts haha.

@Daysleeper, I agree with some of the sentiment from others here, the excessive negativity can be a bit much and feel pointless in instances, for example writing "terrible" on MurZos track, or coming across as overly rude about it, paraphrasing: 'boring prog, why do these producers even bother' type stuff too...

Actual critiquing with a negative perspective however in my view is completely fine. Personally I rate and enjoy your critiques a lot, and I think forums are perfect places for this kind of stuff. The scene and music has many issues so let us hear it, we should pull these things apart. Your observations are on point too imo, and it makes more sense to me when you do it on labels/artists you resonate with vs steroid/commercial releases you know you 99% certainty you will hate... just better if some are not coming across as slightly dickish, insulting, too entitled etc (not that they all are).

End of the day when I look at the numbers there are quite big member and lurker stats on the more commercial sounds, so I don't see a scenario where we force a change to rid the forum of that material. But there are many that are exceptionally bad or unengaging and if users share too much of that we will send messages/limits. For example if the last 5 threads have seen <1 reply or <X views then you will get a message and limits applied. As said will look into filtering/seperating these contents too.

what benefit is there from the ‘many’ lurkers you see in data?
Well, I do want to say there is none... But then again, I was one of them, searching for release dates of tracks I heard on ASOT and ultimately creating an account. And look how far I've come, I'm the one who hates that entire scene now. 😂

Eventually those lurkers may choose to participate with comments. Some likely don't come from english speaking countries or lack confidence in english but still want to follow the scene. Some people are just not big on saying stuff, and thats fine too. You'd be surprised at how many regular members I see turn up throughout the month regularly but don't say a word.

Some of us don't have the time to listen to all of the tracks being posted but I do get your point. The reason why that Murzo received more attention is probably because Murzo himself posted in that topic.

Also, when I first started listening to ASOT/TATW or GDJB I didn't know any of the names of trance/house and techno and progressive artists out there.

50% is recognizable names if we are being honest dude, and the rest as newcomers leaves us with a perfect composition that’s expected of a scene that’s moving forward. You could say the new names are doing it better than the old.

I like the current release forum as it is, I have no complaints.

Pleaseeeee no strict limits on how many releases can be posted per month. We would miss so many good releases. There are users who share more than 3 good releases a month easily who I follow and many of them are popular amongst many here. I like this forum section the most out of everything and is why I joined TranceFix to begin with, it is helping me a fair amount to keep on top of the scene.

Yeah that guy types ‘thread update’ all the time. Very annoying. Just like Maniak who spams empty topics and contributes nothing else to the forum.

In that case I don't think the topics itself are the issue. Especially when there's few which has clearly caused some discussion.

The problem is the spamming.

I'm in a hurry to answer. Well, sometimes I refresh the topic I created even a few days after the release because I prefer order and discussion (although I do not expect it). I don't check the forum here very often. I work on the ship and rarely come here. If necessary, If necessary, I will not write in the future that I have updated the thread.

EDIT: I would like to add that, as in the case of Destination, I preferred to inform you that I added/replaced a new preview. Because then there would be comments where the preview is.

What's the problem here @LostLegend (re: your screenshot)?

There is no massive issue with quality or activity here, as the majority are high activity and with relevant artists. Is the issue with the each thread being from the same user? Not sure I know why that is a problem? Not trying to be facetious, honestly curious as to why.

@Magnevi regarding "thread update messages are annoying"... this is happening because @james864 often posts the sets that include the ID or unreleased track. It is right that he would then replace it with the proper YT sample when that comes out. He could just post the sample underneath the OP instead of the 'thread update message', but I think replacing the original post is better.

To avoid what you find annoying we could either ban posting tracks that are not released yet (maybe we should?) but I know in the past many great tracks and discussions have happened way before release and proper YT samples exist. So I dont think we should. We could try silent updates, so that the OP is updated but you cant announce it, but maybe people like to be updated...? I often wait for the full sample before listening (others don't), so personally don't mind being reminded when a track I like gets bumped back up when the full track is there (I would miss it otherwise).

I think you this rule change might have discouraged some people from posting or deleting their account. I could be wrong though.

This strict rule will piss a lot of people off because you are denying their freedom to post what they do like and it's not like they work for Armada or the label.

As we can see the post from @Addict-In-Trance I think the old rule should be brought back.

wdym by the new rules like they're some restrictions? from what I noticed, the new rules are actually more opened for different, more underground stuff that often comes from the names and labels I'm as a mainstream scene follower not aware of, you can still post any 138 uplifter or cheesy Armin weekly single that you like or consider worth posting, don't ya?

other thing is how the track is liked by the rest of the forum crew, but that's just a matter of taste. if someone doesn't like a track and says that, I'm pretty sure it's not because of the track's topic starter.

True, I didn't read the part of the fact that @Addict-In-Trance posted that he doesn't know 95% of the artists. That's more the reason you want to check out those names. I remember back in the day we had a whole bunch of IDs and we didn't know any of the names. But I hope addict-in-trance reconsiders his decision to leave.

I am mostly just ignoring these underground threads coz in 90% cases that stuff won't do anything to me so I'd rather post something about the tracks from the artists/labels that I know, still don't have a problem with the underground threads, they're easy to spot by the names and titles. and still the whole upcoming releases section now feels less polluted than before with all the bulk of Beatport trance releases from B and C tier labels posted just for the sake of posting.
