Me too.
What I am seeing from you though, is always these weird short arrangements. There isn't really any logical build from a dj perspective. It's like a good demo with excellent parts, that you need to expand on, and finish it into a real track.
It's a shame really, because at lets say 3:00 minute (in the soundcloud clip) it really sounds cool. Nice melodies and atmosphere. The production itself isn't bad either. (But I don't like the bitcrushed clap)
It just lacks a good arrangement to be an actual endproduct.
Cheers
Hey! you posted this at my favourite time of the day! 9.09 ! (aka Roland drum machine)
Sure man, I completely agree. And often my stuff is like that and remains too un structured, but im working on it. The ‘Airdrawn’ track as i said is Unfinished.
I just put it up so it could be heard more clearly in a WIP fashion.
The way i write tracks is often il leave space to add things later. On This track i don’t yet know where it will go but quite often il change an intro & have ‘just started adding beats at the start of tracks to get used to potential dj use. I love remixing so changing bits isn’t too severe for me. But yes. Structuring a track to the finish line with good arrangement has always been my weakness. But ive made a friend who lives near me who has an entire grading system for trance music and that grading system is 95% structure based as he sees it as the most important element of trance. From him i am learning also.
You may have heard this one, maybe not. But it was an experiment to see how quickly i could write a ( hopefully) reasonable trance track. It took 7 hours and starts with a beat / Kick. I also Mastered it a little .
I haven’t got back to work on it …. Just listening now i can tell it needs more fills and risers etc to introduce new sections, but i think im on my way to getting the arrangement/structure issue sorted. Im about 25% on my way to learning structure in general id say, as listening to this i see many potential improvements can be made to rise energy and introduce sections via sound fx like white noise swooshes etc.
