Rofl, I hadn’t spotted the difference. I like your explanation.

To be honest the very first thing I saw in it was a pregnant lady… 😂
To me, the first I noticed is a bed with a mirror or a circle backboard similar to this.

So some more info on this. It will be a monthly show, with Grant Trowbridge as main host. There will be an episode every last Friday of the month.

There will be guest mixes alongside the regular one by Grant Trowbridge. The very first episode will have a guestmix by Activa himself. He will be bringing you an extremely upfront selection of Borderline releases and guests will be announced in the weeks leading up to the show.

The shows will launch exclusively on Bandcamp. They will be free to stream, just as if the show was on SoundCloud or Mixcloud, but with some added advantages only Bandcamp brings.

https://borderlineradio.bandcamp.com is the profile you need, the first show will be available this Friday, the 31st!

Used to listen to quite a few radio shows a few years back. Not so much these days. I'll give it a go though, out of curiosity.

Re: the new brand identity, I'm still not convinced. I assume the difference between the main and the radio symbol silhouettes is supposed to be...this (single records vs. record crate)?

Even still, not convinced.
I don't understand the reasoning behind choosing this fond and colorscheme at all. I understand wanting something fresh compared to the previous landscape pictures but this... 🤔😵

Interesting choice! Myself, as a noobie, I'm wondering what this would 'give' in terms of payback or, generally speaking, what advantages you'd get, as opposed to the usual web radio or spotify etc etc. Might be interesting hearing Rob or Grant's point on this aspect.

I think everything is played “not a lot”, right? Whether it’s Spotify streams, Beatport sales, support from superstar deejays, usage in sets. What it gives? Not a lot. Haha. That’s trance in 2024.

I know they aren’t fans of Spotify because of the lack of support / royalties. They have a point.

But I don’t know any of the reasoning. SoundCloud can be very annoying with copyright issues. That’s for sure.

Hook Recordings did this too for their remastered silver series, where all the vinyl jackets looked pretty damn identical in format to what's below:

I'm not 100 percent sure I haven't dreamt this, but I think TDR was involved in the design of this too (along with that of Movement: One, and the newest Fluke single). The previous design incorporated the photo credits, but I don't know if there was a licensing fee associated with using those.

Maybe this was in truth the intended design of the Borderline return from the get-go but it wasn't ready, or maybe Rob decided to do this after working with TDR on Movement: One and liking the results? Short of asking the man himself, we can speculate until we're blue in the face (or maybe pink? Because of the color of...never mind).

It certainly makes it a bit more difficult to distinguish which release is which from a distance. On the flip side, there's something to be said about the cover having a strong color and making the label identifiable that way - kind of like that neon yellow for the Cyberpunk 2077 box art...and just key art in general.

The font I don't mind, I think it fits well.

I can agree with them re: Spotify 100%. In fact, never been a fan myself and never will. Surely supporting this decision of making use of BandCamp!

This is great. More chances to hear IDs, more exposure for good artists. Borderline contribution to Trance has been very welcomed since its return. Hope a Movements vol 2 will be on the horizon too.
Can confirm Movements 2 is in development : )
Won’t be too quick. Maybe end of the year. Rob is still signing tracks for it to my knowledge.

I had no idea bandcamp offered a radio or mix service. Have I been sleeping on others, or is this new? Good to see but they really need comments to make this viable, otherwise there is no way to find IDs. That's what makes Soundcloud so useful

Bandcamp aren’t really offering a ‘radio or mix’ service. We’re just making use of maximum file size that can be uploaded. Rob likes Bandcamp so we thought we’d try it and see how it goes.
we do supply tracklist in the write ups and tracklists can now be found on tracklist1001.
