Nu NRG Feat. Gate 4 - Astralis [2007]

I've always been a massive fan of Nu NRG, and selecting favourite stuff from them is a hard thing, but "Astralis" deserves a special place in my heart, along with their "Synthasia" remix.

Some of you might remember this track from Tiesto's "In Concert" 2004 show

The original version was part of Nu NRG's 2004 album Freefall (just looked it up).
Astralis itself feels like it's older, from 2001-2002 rather than 2004. I think it uses samples that are more lo-fi, and the acid-like sound reminds me of Dream Traveler - Time (1998). The bassline when the main melody kicks in also reminds me of Jam & Spoon ft. Plakva - Right in the Night. Good arrangement, though, and Nu NRG clearly knows how to build tension in his tracks.
