Something massive from Andy ⚡️⚡️⚡️ It’s something that will grow in time but I thought that it’s too wonderful to not make a thread about it ✌️

Pulser via Facebook:

After your amazing reaction to me sharing a couple of unreleased things yesterday, I've decided to make this a thing starting tomorrow over on my Bandcamp. The Vault will be an 'album' with an infinite tracklist. A sketchpad of ideas, successes, failures, lost works and doodles. A 'warts and all' account of the music I've spent 30+ years making across multiple genres. Everything in the Vault will be FREE to download, stream, play, share and even remix!

Some will be resurrected, maybe for fun, maybe even for vinyl and just maybe, some might kick start your own ideas to become a track, a remix or maybe even a collaboration with me. Just don't expect an album of finished tracks :D #trancelovers #pulser #BandcampFriday #rareandunreleased #trancelovers #trancefamily

Pulser via Bandcamp:

I've written, produced and remixed a lot of music over the years but not everything was released. In fact, there is way more unreleased, finished and unfinished material than anything that was signed.

This collection will grow over time and will feature tracks that were done for fun or destined for one of my aliases. It's not all polished and some of it might not even be complete but what use is music if nobody hears it?

I'm not charging for access but feel free if you want to contribute something. Anything you do contribute is very gratefully received.

You can download, stream, play, share, remix or rework. The only thing I ask is that you tag me @DJPulser and don't sell anything. My publisher wouldn't be too happy about that ;)

Always happy to hear your thoughts and who knows, maybe something here will spark something off for you!

A few of my favorites from the first portion of music:

Breathe

I wrote this either just before or just after I remixed Jose Amnesia's 'The Eternal' as it used some of the same sounds. Caution - This has been converted from MP3 to wav so quality isn't optimal.

Into The Light

Made circa 2002 so just before My Religion. Gave it to a few DJs and had a few plays at the time but never released it.

Condor - Velvet Dreams (Pulser's Naughty Remix) ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

One of my absolute favorite tracks I remixed for my own DJ sets in the early 'naughties' ;) Written by the legendary Stephan Bodzin

Crystal

One of the last tunes I worked on before 'retiring'. I love the build and yes, I know it needs to 'go off' after the break but at the time, trance was very much about not doing that. I've always felt it an anticlimax. maybe I'll go back to it.

THE WHOLE ALBUM:

Hope that this project and people’s enthusiasm will bring Andy to make many more great things, including expanding some ideas from „The Vault” :)

The vault has a nice intro with those percussion just wish the mastering could be better but mind you it could be bandcamp they also have terrible mastered tracks. Those arpeggios need to tweaked a bit they don't sound right.

I know I said the next Vault update would be samples and stems but I just had an email from someone who found what can only be described as a 'mythical' Pulser track. Something I myself have not heard in over 20+ years. This needs a little back story to make any sense...

Just before I started to produce 'Trance' I decided that my years as a 'bedroom producer' should probably be put to the test. I replied to an ad in the classifieds section of Future Music magazine (or possibly Sound on Sound) and sent a few tracks to an anonymous PO Box. I remember the advert well because I kept the clipping in my wallet for years, it was from 'Le Faux & Bull' based in East Grinstead (UK) of all places. So after a few weeks I received a reply by post (snail mail). They "really liked my demos" (I nearly had a heart attack reading the letter). Anyway, after a 'test' remix I did for them, I was invited to their studio for a meeting and a chance to show what I could do. I spent one Saturday afternoon in a blind panic as I drove south down some very scary roads and eventually arrived at the 'studio'. It wasn't exactly what I though of when it came to top studios... a dilapidated building, sticky carpet, peeling paint and a weird aroma but they did have a seriously big mixing console (an SSL I believe) and more expensive rack gear than I had ever seen in my life. Meeting the studio owner was eventful. I was so wet behind the ears that I didn't realize that where I was was somewhere important or that I was in the company of someone important. Anyway, to cut a long story short, the studio was that of Xenomania; A production team that was, amongst many notable things, responsible for 'Cher's huge worldwide hit 'Believe', The Sugar babes, St Etienne, Girls Aloud and more.

The producer was Brian 'Higgo' Higgins and somehow I was bang smack in the middle of the UKs hottest new production team. I spent a stressful weekend tweaking some guitar and drum samples in an AKAI sampler, trying to create a cool rhythm on a 'pop/dance' track. The vocal sounded familiar but I couldn't quite place the voice?

Unfortunately Xenomania were working with 'Logic' and I was a Cubase guy so it was really tough and by the end of my 2 days it felt like it wasn't really going anywhere. I just wanted to run away TBH because these guys were 'serious' and i felt like a total amateur but, at the same time, it was also very alluring. After all the struggle, sleeping on the sticky carpet, feeling well out of my depth and getting very hungry (literally) We said our goodbyes and that was that. I still had no idea what had just occurred.

Anyway, a few months passed and I was listening to BBC Radio One when I heard a familiar sound. It was the guitar I had worked on months before and it was in the UK Top 10 countdown. The track was Dannii Minogue - 'All I wanna Do'.

I never got credited on the record but hearing it on R1 was a massive kick in the ass. I felt so happy that I had actually done some something in a 'real studio' and that, essentially, was the start of it for me.

Anyway, the track I'm adding to the vault was based on a demo that I sent to Xenomania for Danni Minogue. They never used it but I guess it was a little ahead of their time ;)

It was nice meeting Brian Higgins and especially, Tim Powell. He was about my age and really helped me not just run away that first day. I often wonder what might have been had I learned Logic instead of Cubase but I can't really complain after the career I've had :)

"All I ever Wanted' will be in the vault shortly.

You know the Original mix and the Astral mix. You might know the 2005 remake but do you know my ~10min long Trance Renaissance Mix from 2011? I made it purely for my DJ sets but only got to play it a couple of times. Available to download now FREE in The Vault.

God damn, Ija - Interstella is just lovely.

HoaHoa I hear you man! If this was 2024 written and produced record I would be in shock and easily assign my ToTY. Sound design is amazing, choice of synths delightful and analogue atmopshere to die to for. We need trance like this back, and by the boat load.
