It's simple, really. The new crowd might love this and buy it. Some might listen to the original and buy that instead. Or both.

It's like when those gender-sensitive reworks of older books get released. Sales of the originals spike. The owners win either way - the market almost doubles.

Yeah it's garbage. Giuseppe Ottaviani also remixed the Haddaway-rip-off from David Guetta ('Baby Don't Hurt Me'). Blegh.

Such a shame since he does know how to make good music (Nu-NRG, but also more modern stuff like Magenta, Till The Sunrise, Through Your Eyes, No More Alone.

This era will go down as a really bad one for Trance when we look back at it - i noticed he put that techno hi hat to cater to the current fad. And to say he was my favourite producer around 5 years ago. Everything sounds really 'default' sounding - that sub melody has not delay, just played from the MIDI file - and the main pads,he hasnt done anything with it,just put them though a generic saw sound.

And after the break - wasnt Patterson doing that kind of thing over 10 years ago hehe?

I want to hear this kind of stuff. He probably like armin ignores all of the criticism

It seems to be drawing the crowd.

Drawing a lame crowd haha.

This Airwave Remix is such a cheap downgrade, as expected, almost sounds as if some kid making a YouTube music production tutorial did it as a quick example.
From Nu-NRG to No-NRG, it's a shame he's declined so much in the recent years.

It's not unlistenable but it's a very lazy remix. Doesn't sound he did much with the breakdown at all. Even though I don't mind the techy drop, it sounds very basic and devoid of any creative sound design.

When he says 'super intimate vibes' I think this would fit better (it's a collab but still):

Airwave definitely didn't need another remix. Least of all this one.

But... does Airwave really have that many pointless remixes from the last decade? I can only recall a few (apart from the old official release with ATB and such).

Imo it doesn't need to have that many remixes for people to just leave it alone. :p

Official releases haven't been that many, but coupled with the unofficial ones, there's quite a few. If we count both trance and house variants of it, official and unofficial:

- Rank 1 vs Dutch Force Mix (1999) - sure, included on the original release, but technically a different mix so I'd say it counts.
- ATB Mix (2000)
- Junior Vasquez Marathon Airwaves Remix (2000) - really rather strange this one
- Sunset Chillout Mix (2000) - very nice chillout rework
- 21st Century Mix (2014):

- twoloud Remix (2014)
- Giuseppe Ottaviani Remix (2023) - the fact that this is the first (official) remix since 2014 is quite unfortunate

If we're looking at bootlegs and unofficial releases:

- Cykiq's TMT Remix (2000)
- Wrongun! Remix (2008) - no sample for this. The Airwave remix of When Things Go Wrong comes up in search. Not the same track (though still nice).
- Hughes & Ballantine Drop Ur Drawers Rework (2013)
- @Magdelayna Resurrection Mix (2016)
- Johan Gielen Bootleg (2016)
- Inversed Remake (2019)
- Eufeion Remix (2019) - really nice Rave-y kind of remake
- Metta & Glyde Bootleg (2019)
- Jay Flynn Remix (2020)
- Steve Allen Rework (2020)

I'd say it's been remixed enough.
