This opinion will be unpopular here, I actually think that Xijaro and Pitch are doing proper good steoid production! Not a big fan of reworks of classics, but this one is fine 6,5/10

I saw it in their tracklist on 1001. Now that Freezer said he liked it, I was already afraid. But Such Is Life is in my personal top 5 "of all time", so I had to click play.

Obviously, all the clichés are there: a stupid steroid kick with no soul, hardly any worthy percussion use, the plucks sound plastic-y, as if they are from a kids toy keyboard. Then the main theme is played out in 16th notes, again with a synth that sounds like it costed 5 euro in a kids store. They made some variations in the melody, but I don't like them.

Just compare the actual sounds you hear Freezer, to the sounds in the original. The sweet organic sounding plucks from the oringal. Playful, warm, organic. And the huge JP8000 supersaw on the main theme. What a sound! Grabs you by the balls! That sounds simply objectively better than those synths in this remix. Those are machinery, static, without any emotion in it. I really believe it's a fact. Not an opinion.

I mean... Is it really taste? It's like someone tells me he loves dogfood, while I just presented him a lovely chefworthy stew (or whatever). And then they keep repeating: oh it's nice dogfood 6/10.

HOW!!!

Great analogy, but it is important to note this: A proper chef-worthy stew is gonna be made for a gourmet. And as far as dog food goes this remix is Pedigree-quality, however, in the end, it is just dog food.

I don't care about this remix at all. And even with the original being a bit more on the commercial end of the spectrum (have to point out the irony in the remix being the more commercial side of trance these days) which is definitely not my thing, you have to note it has a lot more (e)motion and soul. It's not just a collection of drums and synths, it's a living, breathing, emotion-inducing song.

I like all kinds of subgenres, I dont mind steroid trance if its done properly and at the same time i can appreciate techno, prog trance and all the other subgenres. Its not fair to judge me as a steroid supporter or whatever...

And remember what has been said in the other threads...its not okay to attack other people taste, especially if you are a producer...thats very unprofessional and you are loosing my credit fast

I have to say something good about this remix though, it made me aware of how awesome the original is! Don't think I've ever heard it before, or haven't actually paid attention.

Comon. Don’t overreact.

I never said you are an idiot. I said I was affraid for the steroidness as you like the remix. My assumption was pretty accurate.

then I try to explain you with (what I think are) facts to compare with the original. In stead of replying on that you call me unprofessional.

Which I am btw, I just make a bit of music as a hobby on mediocre level.

Hey even dogs can tell what taste good or not. This is equivalent to being served a plate full of bad fungi and faeces.

How does taste come into effect into these kinds of tracks?

It's a hard tune to remix I think. When the original is so iconic. Marco V did a great job back then:

And what about this "live" version that never got released? This was their "many miles too soon" track, before they turned it into Such Is Life.

Its a shame Such Is Life was so overshadowed by Airwave. Its a great classic in its own right.

This is your typical modern remix,i havnt minded some of X&P stuff in the past, theyve had good energy and melodies - if you can look past the steroid dressing. This is one of those where id just much rather listen to the original....

The version that never got released is much better than the released version. With those vocals, it gets to cheese, same with the Marco V remix.
Anyway.. this new version is generic dogshit.
