I'm really happy with how the Yearmix turned out. The endresult of the poll is represented very well, plus some personal favorites that didn't make the list. To all producers who have their tracks in the Yearmix: I cut, pasted, edited, a LOT in the tracks, hope you don't mind ;). This way the tracks are a tad shorter, for ultimate 'Yearmix feels', and for better transitions too.

---

My personal highlights I'd like to mention are the opening, with Macker 'Arrakis', which I voted for myself. A perfect intro track with a gourgeous lead melody and synth. To my surprise this one did not make the Top 100, but I bet most of you agree that this is a sweet track.

Fulfillment also got points from me. That lead is almost of Vincent De Moor quality. Ferry showing once again that he still got what it takes. Huge track. It's mixed into another one that got points from me: Sinful Biz - Magnetic. I'm still not bored of that cute exotic jungle-feel (and I don't mean the genre 'jungle', I just picture a lot of tropical trees and such... when listening to this track, lol). Truly unique production. Also, that deep pad/stab in the breakdown, slowly gaining speed... going faster and faster, there's some cool production elements here. The track is mixed into 'Wunderland', a favorite by many. And rightfully so. If someone wants "big" sounding trance, I think Digital Blonde is the guy to point to. This tune doesn't just fill a dancefloor, or a footbal stadium. This fills a whole country, maybe a whole planet. This is a BIG tune!

While my solo tracks are 'trance from 2000', collabs are always going to be a blend, an experiment. Flawless is no exception, as it's quite different, but it became a cool tune with that Matrix-architect-sample giving a bit of magic. I bet it won't be the last collab with @Jetflag. It's always fun to benefit from his talents in soundscapes, melodies and conceptual thinking.

I also gave points to the Standard Form version of Siskin 'Connected'. My initial thought about the track was "rather a lot of similarities with Divine Inspiration - The Way", but it simply grew on me a LOT. The vocal is lovely, the main melody is superb. Btw people, this is sped up from 124 bpm to 132 bpm. This results in the track going from key D to D#, and because of that a great harmonic transition with Flawless (and Narel's track afterwards). Narel's 'Cut My Dreams' has gotten a great story in the end. Nobody picking it up, ending up in the top 10 of our anual poll. That's just great, and a sign to not adjust 'for the labels', but do what you wanna do.

Halfwaythrough the mix you'll find Luke Terry 'Deep Space', which was also on my list. Tight production with one of the best trance melodies of the year. Good to see this was played on ASOT, although I feel like Armin should simply play this weekly on all stages in the world. Right?
I voted for Aeon Shift as my artist of the year, with their 'Another World' voted on the 14th place, a great result. It's difficult to get a little space in that modern uplifting trance section of the scene (as there are so many doing this...) but the Aeon Shift guys slowly creating their own style here. Sweet track.

Then there's 'Summerbreeze (Wavetraxx Mix)', by Jaron Inc and Wavetraxx. I voted for this one too. It's a great track, apart from the harsh big modern snares. But other than that, a great piece with great synths and melodies. Powerful 'drop'. One of my favorites of the year. Happy to see more of you voted for this, as it reached #21 in the list. Not bad at all.

Gotta mention Enigma State of course. His 'Echoes of Silence' is probably my favorite of his releases this year, and it ended up being the #1 track in our poll. Lately (also the Azure Mix) was a great one too, that I played a lot this year. It's disappointing to see that the trance scene (outside TF) is only embracing him slowly (but surely!!!). I wished it would be more, bigger, faster. I'd love to see more support by big name deejays, more support from big events. I mean, Armin should have played Echos of Silence like 5 times on ASOT right, week in week out! Looking forward to the album this year (who else thinks this will be 'Album of the Year' in the TF votes 2025? :sneaky:).

I guess I should say something about 'Time Warp' as well. Having it on #2, that must mean multiple people voted for it, and that's amazing. Thanks again for those who did. It's great to see people embrace the classic sounds so much. It's what I want to make, with or without label/release/support. When I sent it to Rob (Activa), I was affraid to be honest, that it would be "too classic". But... Rob gave it a chance, and even put it on the Universe EP Vinyl. The vinyl release is probably my highlight of the year.

Aeon Shift's 'Celestial Awakening' is one of my biggest 'tunes of the year'. It's a simple track at first glance, maybe. But it all works very well. The little vocal FX sample, the little plucks in the background. And that main lead with that slightly unusual note placement (that part going 'tada', you know?) haha.

The mix ends with LostLegend's Running Man, in a special outtro edit that he made for me. Used it in Manchester, and this was a great opportunity to use it again. A special outrro edit of a stomper of a track, with that unique key (how was it again, not a standard western musical key or something?). Happy for Brendan this got on Pure Trance.

Hope you enjoy(ed) the mix :)

The EoY mixes are probably my favorite part of the vote. Love seeing all the different highlights from the year come together to form a mega mix. So many tracks I write off as not my cup of tea really catch me by surprise as I work away and listen to this again.

Managed to listen to it in one go, great mix!

I pretty much forgot about Running Man, what a majestic tune. 😎

I have a love hate relationship with end of years listings, because I always have to reject some awesome tracks. You can't vote 1.5, 2.5, 2,6, you get my point. Or some tracks are awesome in such a different way, that I feel it's unfair to even put them head to head..

The results of the voting and the mix itself features many of those tracks that I'd like to include in my vote, but 10 spaces were not enough.

Plus some that I've overlooked.

Thanks, it's been a great listen!

Mine too.

Plus the mix is a different journey, compared to hearing the tracks solo. Like some spices you wouldn't necessarily like solo, they contribute to give a soup the right taste.

I believe most Trance tracks sound best in a mix as opposed to solo/single listening anyway.

It's a great genre for creating long journeys.

Great mix broskis. Finished it today at the gym and walk home and had me pumped. Couldn’t see the track list due to working out, but there were around 10 IDs I need to go back on a find.
