Ok,apparently this got to number 1 in June - can anyone confirm this haha?

Yeah I noticed the posts too. I can't remember it. Fortunately, for everything there are stats-websites. So let's have a look:

It's a bit small. But what you see here, is the timeline of "Like a Spring" on Beatport. It entered the top 100 (Trance) on June 17th (around #15).
Then, when the day turned to the 18th, he reached number one. But after that, the track instantly fell out of the top 100. It just didn't sell anything.

(I checked with other tracks. If it stays on number 1, or drops in the weeks after.. you get a bigger red line. This one just stops instantly after a day).

For example, this is Gouryella - Orenda... the timeline is from early June untill halfway august.

PS: The guy is #55 main chart now. Highest trance track of the year, probably :p

What really baffles me is, does he really think that once he reaches #1 trance/main chart, people will notice his track, press play and think to themselves: "Wow, this really sounds good, I must look for more of this"?

He just wants the reaction on social media,im guessing - but surely everyone can see right through this anyway? Instead of him going the normal route - where hard work and talent can get you places, followers,DJ support etc.

Just like that other tune, this one will drop extremely quickly.

It's already out of the main top 100. And dropped to 37 now in the Trance chart. It will likely be gone tomorrow already, just like that other tune.

Makes you think if it's worth the "purchasing". If it's only on top 1 day, because nobody buys it. Well, you can post "I'm number 1!!!!" on socials of course, and then fill your own posts with fake replies... But who are you kidding?

They all are after these reactions, ALL OF THEM they just want money and fame nothing more . I remember speaking to Fast Distance (not Olivier) he got jealous of Craig Connelly and so he started to change his sound and people don't want to work hard anymore, because they see someone making loads of money with very little effort and they want that kind of lifestyle with what they see on Youtube or facebook. They all get jealous, envious of someone doing it better so they try to cheat their way. When they see someone making more than what they did with very little effort they get jealous and they start attacking them.

I might make a track that has the words 'beatport is a disgrace to the music industry' repeat over and over for 3 minutes, upload it and then buy it 50 times so it's no1 in the chart for all to see.

Haha we could pool some money and make it actually remain on top for much longer.

I doubt that will be allowed. I think they check the sounding of the track before they upload it. It will degenerate Beatport which they won't allow.

Does anyone take the beatport top charts seriously or as something worth following for tracks? If only 30 buys will get you in there then that must mean no one is buying anything from beatport. When I see a track hit the top 10 I know it will be atrocious. It's almost a seal of shit. If someone uses their top 10/50/100 position as a means of social marketing I will give that track a wide, wide berth.

DJ and music charts used to be so fucking good and valuable in music. Then about 15 years ago the whole concept and execution of music rankings and lists fell off a cliff. The DJ mag is the best example. What happened? Look what happened with ASOT top 1000 this year. We lost it completely.

I would be very surprised if Beatport had this kind of quality assurance

Nah. Think about the average person listening to music. They're not going to give a hoot about someone who's been featured in the Beatport top 10 multiple times.
