Or better yet, why name and shame in the first place? It doesn't benefit anyone. Why aren't you naming and shaming him?
it's just wrong to think of him as of a trance DJ that once betrayed the genre and sells himself out for EDM whatever. if you think that he was always a crowd pleaser kind of DJ and it's just that his early days it was trance to be the big thing, everything makes sense. he never made neither his trance classics nor his later years whatever himself though, he's just a man behind the decks and face on the banners and covers
what I said does not deny that he might have a great taste in whatever genre he's into, he does his part good. also I'm not sure ISOS was his solo project when it comes to tracks selection, pretty sure more Black Hole staff were involved in decision making on the tracks. But he did do some awesome compilations (magik, isos) and some great live sets. Still my fave Trance DJ ever,in regards to track selection.
I rather think of the before 2010 Tiësto only.Tiësto has been longer into EDM-pop than trance.
Think about that.
trance is getting more popular (again)Tiësto has been longer into EDM-pop than trance.
Think about that.
because Armin still actually plays some decent music. At least he played his own version of Adagio for strings. Armin van Buuren is doing the same thing as him. Why aren't you naming and shaming him?
... and nobody ever plays the original ...At least he played his own version of Adagio for strings...
That's because it won't appeal to the current and previous crowd cos it's too old.... and nobody ever plays the original ...
Prague Chamber Orchestra, Antonín Hradil - Samuel Barber: Adagio for Strings
Show me prooftrance is getting more popular (again)
tiesto is getting less popular
they will meet again sometime soon
I beg to differ.because Armin still actually plays some decent music.
I think either Rich or Paul Oakenfold might have at one point. As a closing track... and nobody ever plays the original ...

Must admit guys Archon is probably right.Or better yet, why name and shame in the first place? It doesn't benefit anyone.
Because Armin seems to have broken loose of his fan's expectations more than having sold out completely like Tiësto. I agree the Armin situation is not ideal, and most of what he plays at ASOT is either plain boring or not Trance, but he does at least still stay in touch with the Trance scene one way or another and he (at least sort of) appears to enjoy it. His album "A State of Trance Forever" contains some nice tracks, of course all of them are collabs so production-wise they seem to lean heavily on the respective collaborators, but at least he is trying. His ASOT labels seem to revert more to the 2000's sound as well with many classic artists like Sonicvibe returning to ASOT in their old styles. At least he played his own version of Adagio for strings. Armin van Buuren is doing the same thing as him. Why aren't you naming and shaming him?
