Yeah,you cant compare Armin with Tiesto....Tiesto went for the money big style,and why not. At least Armin still support some minor Trance artists.

Are you sure about that? He did a collaboration with Steve Aioki.
His show mainly has a lot of ASOT/Armada artists feature on the show. There might be an odd ball here and there like Airwave featuring on the show.

I feel like Tiesto has spent way more time on non-trance than trance.
What were some of the last trance tracks he worked on? Elements of Life [2007]? It's been 17 years. Trance was just a stage of his music career.
I would argue he started with trance some time in 1994/1995, with the release of Forbidden Paradise 3. So that is 13 years at most, between 1994 (first trance DJ mix) and 2007 (last trance album).
Remember that he used to produce happy hardcore and rave type music, instead of trance trance. He was not one of the original Platipus producers, and he definitely was not one of the originals Dance 2 Trance / Jam & Spoon / Cosmic Baby / PvD / Lieb / etc. He was just a DJ following the trends. He knew which producers could craft the sound that he had in his mind for basically all of the songs released under the Tiesto name. Once trance fell in global popularity (which it did! after 2005 or so), he dipped and went to trouse.
I'm not a Tiesto fanboy. I just don't think he really cares about "selling out" or leaving trance behind. He was probably one of the earliest people to know that trance would fall in popularity soon after his 2004 olympics DJ set.

Well, he already had some D&B releases (e.g. "The First Note Is Silent" in 2011) and used to play with genres A LOT during the "Kaleidoscope" era. You could hear D&B, hardcore, techno, house/hip hop hybrids, etc. in his sets. Which was lots of fun, not gonna lie.
He had a couple of VER:WEST tracks during the pandemic. Not strictly speaking trance, but definitely more melodic than usual.
And yes, you're right, he didn't actually start with trance, and he obviously jumped on board after realizing the genre was getting popular. Which is fine by me, he still helped produce some of the best trance records ever.
Not much, as far as I can tell. I just wanted to mention that I find it funny that in his interviews Dennis always seems to downplay his involvement, saying something along the lines of "I'm not a ghost producer, it was always a team effort". But if you actually find and listen to some of his solo tracks (Denzel D for example), it becomes kind of obvious just how much he influenced Tiesto's sound in the early 2000s.

I came into the trance scene in 2008 and I recall everyone calling him a sellout even then. Admittedly I have heard very little of his discography and what little I have heard I haven't liked, both new and old.
For old I like Suburban Train and for new I like Boom.
Honestly I hold the same opinion on Armin too :V

To be absolutely honest, I was never really that much of a big fan of Tiësto. I mean, he was fine from 1998 up 'till 2002, and that's pretty much it. And like some people already mentioned here he was never really into the music, realistically speaking he never even slightly produced a single thing and he only went to the Trance thing because it was starting to get big in the mid to late 90's and once the flame of Trance was gone he left, it's as simple as that.
Armin on the other hand just let the whole genre go massively downhill as of the last decade up to nowadays and he pretty much doesn't care, that's the truth.

Its an extremely impressive list (although missed Flying Squirrel Problem!). But out of that list, how many "Tiesto" remixes were the best versions? Maybe Tweek Your Nipple & the odd one or two. Even the original's mostly were ok, not amazing (some exceptions of course).

I don't really care if he 20 years ago decided to go full EDM, I even like EDM to a certain extent. The real problem for me is that his EDM sets suck. For such a big name you would expect much better taste.
I heard one a few years ago and it was completely fucked up with a terrible flow and music selection. Hardwell for example is on a completely different level. Tiesto is mostly just the name.
