Geeeeeeez how the once "mighty" (described my many) have fallen:

This has gotta go down as one of the worst sets I've ever heard, only skipped through. Does he genuinely like this noise? That remix of Da Hool about 5 mins in is a disgrace to music.

Is it even worse than let's say 5 years ago? It's pretty poor indeed, well I don't blame him for aiming the big €€€ though.

Youve got to say, someone who started in the late 90's on an even keel with guys like Airwave etc. He chose the right management team to go and earn millions haha.

On a serious note,i cant believe someone who played such great Trance, now plays this. But its all about earning the cash for him at the end of the day - a lot arnt motivated by that.

At least he played his own version of Adagio for strings. Armin van Buuren is doing the same thing as him. Why aren't you naming and shaming him?

it's just wrong to think of him as of a trance DJ that once betrayed the genre and sells himself out for EDM whatever. if you think that he was always a crowd pleaser kind of DJ and it's just that his early days it was trance to be the big thing, everything makes sense. he never made neither his trance classics nor his later years whatever himself though, he's just a man behind the decks and face on the banners and covers

But he did do some awesome compilations (magik, isos) and some great live sets. Still my fave Trance DJ ever,in regards to track selection.

what I said does not deny that he might have a great taste in whatever genre he's into, he does his part good. also I'm not sure ISOS was his solo project when it comes to tracks selection, pretty sure more Black Hole staff were involved in decision making on the tracks.

but yeah he's a great performer and has undoubtedly one of the very best managements in the history of DJing

because Armin still actually plays some decent music.

That's because it won't appeal to the current and previous crowd cos it's too old.
trance is getting more popular (again)

tiesto is getting less popular
Show me proof
they will meet again sometime soon
because Armin still actually plays some decent music.
I beg to differ.

Or better yet, why name and shame in the first place? It doesn't benefit anyone.
Must admit guys Archon is probably right.
But… because trance has such an emotional place for those who love it, that when the legends of the founding era in popular trance (late 90’s /early 2000’s ) create or play music very distant from that specific trance emotion, it feels like pure betrayl.
- But in all honestly, thats ‘our’ problem. These guys are doing what ‘they’ want to do. They arent trying to please ‘us’ specifically.
- maybe its time to stop resenting them and just accept it.

Ps. Some of the tracks in this are actually real ‘fun’. We do like fun yeah guys?

Btw. Anyone know what Dennis Wakoop is doing these days? As im sure many know, He wrote or helped with a lot of tiestos tracks back in the day, and a few tracks from other legends.
- saying this is not intended to add petrol to this post so don’t add it to the flame guys!

Because Armin seems to have broken loose of his fan's expectations more than having sold out completely like Tiësto. I agree the Armin situation is not ideal, and most of what he plays at ASOT is either plain boring or not Trance, but he does at least still stay in touch with the Trance scene one way or another and he (at least sort of) appears to enjoy it. His album "A State of Trance Forever" contains some nice tracks, of course all of them are collabs so production-wise they seem to lean heavily on the respective collaborators, but at least he is trying. His ASOT labels seem to revert more to the 2000's sound as well with many classic artists like Sonicvibe returning to ASOT in their old styles.

Whether you buy this whole rhetoric or see it as a good piece of acting work where he's simply trying to actively not burn the bridges behind him is up to you. May be I'm simply naive. But it's nice to dream sometimes.
