To be honest, I haven't checked this yet at all.

Berlin based DJ, producer, author and sound designer for Arturia & Native Instruments, Torsten has released a plethora of pristine productions on Platipus since 2019, as well as releases under the moniker of Wellenrausch and Kymatik, and producing and remixing for luminaries such as Gai Barone, Jam & Spoon, The Thrillseekers, Markus Schulz, Andy Moor and Blank & Jones over the past 40 years.

‘Black Flower Blossom’ is Torsten’s debut concept album where aural Haute Couture meets electronic horticulture. Inspired by his own wild, varied and challenging life experiences over the past two years, it’s unequivocally meticulous and uncompromising productions deliver a true feast for the senses across 14 unique compositions. Every track is a homage to the intense emotional power that can be expressed and transmitted through a culmination of his love of the great outdoors and synthesized machine music…an amalgamation of nature and sound.
On this rare occasion we will spare you the usual overgrown hyperbole and let you enjoy the pieces organically.

‘Black Flower Blossom’ will come to light on the 26th May.

After listening earlier in the week I found it was better than I expected, but a fairly mild experience for those expecting prog with more energy. The intricacies on offer are good.

Just listened to the whole thing while cranking out some work. Was very enjoyable experience but only a couple of times did I really have to sit back and take in the music, or check the track. Azureus was one of those moments, nice track. Overall well produced and chilled prog album.

Just played it during my drive back home.

First off, the album is well-produced. I wouldn't mind hearing some of these in a mix. It has some solid tracks. But that's about as positive as I can be about this.

But... As an album, I didn't like it. Just a collection of tracks with not much variety. The album itself just felt like a long, neverending ploddy track. I know I didn't give it 100% of my attention because I was driving, but it didn't grab it either. Most tracks felt very similar to each other, so nothing could really stand out.

This scene has already become the new uplifting. Same drums and percussion, same basslines, same detuned noisy synth hits... It's been done before, and it's been done better.
