Many producers of the past had their own unique style, thanks to which they made a name for themselves. Let other users also express their opinions, so as not to be the only one spamming

What’s the uniqueness of Enigma State sound? It seems to me that he just does a classic sound very well, specifically imitating the sound of the golden era of trance
its the combination of the hardware synths he employs, as well as his own way of doing the masters.

you can tell that its an enigma state track before you see the artists name. That's the hallmark of a recognizable, unique sound.

Although some of you may have a different opinion, but I think Aly & Fila should be mentioned here as well. They entered the scene more than 20(!) years ago and up until now you can hear from the very first beat that it's an Aly & Fila track. I'm still a big fan and they are one of the reasons why I fell in love with trance. :)

I agree....Aly & Fila are one of many i could name. A lot of people said they had a 'generic' sound - but you could instantly tell one of their tracks when they changed to that style in 2006.

i would add @hoopoe to the list aswell.
You have your own sound too, that's why I like your music. I think every track and artist we like and discuss here might have their own sound, or we won't spend time on them.

Once, I had a discussion on Thomas Datt with a producer friend, he says that all the Datt's tracks are using the same template, I argue that this highly personalized template in fact is Datt's own sound, makes him producing one iconic track and another. Having a highly personalized template is creativity in my opinion.

I’d agree with many here. DJ Eco especially. Broke the mould. One way years ago you could almost guarantee the unique artists ( or certain unique tracks) wouldn’t often appear on compilations. For example with eco years later than his first greatest music, ( by then many had tried to copy dj eco anyway) with Eco when he did appear on a ASOT comp he had watered down his style for that particular track presumably to fit.

I’m sure il think of more later but Daniel Kandi when he first appeared on Anjunabeats was making a common form of trance, it was just that (for me) everything about it was perfect for that very high emotional lift. It isn’t often (in my opinion). Back then I’d collect compilations when they came out such as Anjunabeats Worldwide (2006) , and similar. Lots of reasonable tracks of that style. Then there were Daniel Kandis. 👌

Apart mentioned above, I'd also add: You Are My Salvation, Sonic Element, Activa, Mac & Monday, Coredata, Ovnimoon, Thomas Datt, recently Allan Morrow - If we talking about modern artist, but we can't forget the biggest names like (old)Tiesto, (old)Push, (old)Airwave

Im surprised so many people are mentioning modern producers - thats been the downfall of the scene for me in the last 15 years or so,most producers dont have a unique sound or style. Its either that or so generic you dont have a clue who made the track.

The obvious ones for me,back in their heyday :

Dumonde
Ferry Corsten
Push
Airwave
Matt Darey
Lange
PVD
Signum
Darren Tate
Marco V

And the downfall of producers in quantity too.

But yes, back then it was kinda clear when the track was made by Andy Moor. Rarer these days if we are not talking about The Digital Blonde. Even Orkidea nowadays it not as unique as he once was.

The likes of Oliver Prime and Whirloop were really unique back in the days.

Why ATB of and Chicken in the yearly 2000s ofc. York ('till a few years ago when he switched to progressive) who is the face of balearic trance for me. This will be controversial but Ian Van Dahl, Milk Inc, DJ Sammy which were not exactly trance, but close enough. Morten Granau who even to this day is the face of progressive psy trance in my ears. The Threellseekers, Ronski Speed around the 2010s were very recognisable. Marlo - hate it or love it very recognisable. There is a ton more I think...

No mention of Solarstone yet?

He ('they' at first) even went through multiple phases: from those iconic guitar melodies to tracks with rich sound design and producer techniques (the Electronic Architecture / Touchstone era) and, finally, to the Pure Trance brand. But each time it was something very recognizable and fresh.
